Dr. Jon Davis This is one day of instruction, with two separate and distinct courses being taught: Ethics (a.m.) / Margin (p.m.) Practical Pastoral Ethics As what is acceptable/ethical/moral continues to shift and change more and more swiftly in society, both clergy and laity need a firm understanding of how to think about situations which will arise in their ministries within the church and in the world. This course will discuss how to look at situations from a pastoral perspective with the objective of answering questions such as How do you stay true to Biblical teaching, doctrinal and ethical guidelines while ministering to someone who is in crisis or is hurting? Finding Margin In today s over scheduled, over full existence it sometimes seems like every day is a struggle of how to pack in just one more thing. We have more things than any other nation in history, but less peace in our hearts and souls. How do we find the margin, the whitespace in our lives that will keep the days from running together with less and less meaning and more stress? This class will give you practical wisdom and tools to restore reserves to our overloaded lives. Syllabus online at http://icscourses.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/jon-davis-ethics-and-margin-class.pdf Live class days begin with Morning Prayer at 8:30 a.m. and conclude by 3:30 p.m. Breaks are scheduled during the morning and afternoon, during which coffee is available. There is a 45-minute lunch break. Cost $35 per day (non-credit) or $45 per day (ICS credit). Classes are held at the Diocesan Office, 1017 E.
