The Presbytery of Tampa Bay 4704 Kelly Road, Tampa, Florida 33615 May 1, 2014 Dear Presbyters, The next Stated Meeting of our Presbytery will be held on Thursday May 8, 2014 beginning at 9 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church Brandon, located at 121 Carver Avenue, Brandon, Florida 33510. Please encourage first-time Commissioners to arrive in time for a brief orientation at 8:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. A special time of prayer for one another is also reserved from 8:30-9 a.m. in Rooms 101, 104. Any and all are welcome to visit the prayer room for quiet time with our God before joining the meeting at 9 a.m. We will begin the meeting at 9 a.m. with the Consent Agenda followed by our worship of God together and celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The service will include the reading of the 2013 Necrology Report honoring those Teaching and Ruling Elders who entered the Church Triumphant last year and the commissioning of those elected by the Presbytery to serve as Commissioners to the 221 st General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA). The Coordinating Team has designated our offering on this day to be shared equally between One Great Hour of Sharing and Family Promise. The mission of Family Promise is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence, and Family Promise is an important new mission outreach of FPC Brandon. The docket includes very important reports. Please read them in advance as preparation for productive and informed conversations and decision making. A few reports will be distributed with papers as supplemental at the meeting. Please print and bring your docket and the reports. Commissioners will honor a teaching elder who is seeking retirement, examine a candidate for ordination as a Teaching Elder, as well as receive reports from the Nominating Committee; the administrative commissions for Faith Seminole, the Korean Church Tampa, and 4704 Kelly Road; the Coordinating Team; the Presbytery Coach and Coordinator Nominating Committee; and undertake other business. The docket schedules adjournment for 2:45 p.m. Lunch tickets will be available for all at the cost of $8 each. If your congregation is sending others (visitors or observers) who will stay for lunch or if you prefer a special diet alternative to the entrée (pulled pork sandwiches), please call the church (813-689-4597) by Monday, May 5. Reservations for child care must also be made through the Presbytery by Friday, May 2 (813-868-4800). Please pray as we prepare to gather as a Presbytery at First Presbyterian Church, Brandon.
