12 Children s Bible Reading Plan November 26 December 28, 2018
Overview for Parents: This Advent season we will be talking about the ways Jesus came to us: as a man, as God s Son, as a King, as our Savior. We will also see that He came to give us rest and peace. Some people had trouble accepting the person Jesus claimed to be. We need to understand each of them as these perspectives teach us something important about Jesus and our relationship with Him. Christmas is the perfect time to remember who Jesus is, and why we celebrate His birth. 2 11
Elementary Kids Bible Reading Plan Week 5: Dec. 24-28 Jesus came to bring rest Do you ever feel tired from being so busy? Sometimes we fill our days with so many activities that we don t have time to spend with Jesus and to rest. We might even be filling our calendars with really good things like hanging out with friends, going to church, and helping other people. But doing too much sometimes makes us feel overwhelmed and anxious. Jesus doesn t want us to feel that way, he wants us to rest in him. Preschool Bible Reading Plan Week 1: Nov. 26-30 Jesus was a person just like us This week read these three stories in The Beginner s Bible with your child and use them to talk about how God sent Jesus to earth as Mary and Joseph s baby to live just like we live. Jesus laughed, cried, played, slept. He experienced the kinds of things we do, both good and bad, so he is able to understand just what we need and how we feel. Jesus loves us and wants to be our Best Friend, the person we go to first. Day 1: Read Matthew 11:28-30. What kind of rest is Jesus talking about? Do you ever feel like you are carrying a heavy burden? Day 2: Read Jeremiah 6:16. How do we find rest for our souls? Have you ever told God no to something he has asked you to do? Why is it important to say yes to God? Day 3: Read Mark 6:30-31. Where did Jesus and his disciples go to rest? Do you have a quiet place that you can go to to spend time with Jesus? He also had to be God so that he could be the perfect sacrifice for us, and never sin. As Christians, we should live our lives worshipping Jesus as the only Son of God. Day 1: Read Luke 1:26-35.
