A Note From The Pastor... At all of the Masses this weekend, we will have our Annual Second Collec on for the Re rement Fund for Religious. Elderly Catholic Sisters, Brothers, and Religious Order Priests need your help. Many served for years in Catholic Schools, Hospitals, and Parishes o en for li le or no pay. Now there is a shortage in re rement savings. Your gi to the Re rement Fund for Religious provides funding for medica ons, nursing care, and more. It also helps ensure younger members can con nue the good works of their elders. Please give to those who have given a life me. As I men oned at the Masses last weekend, during Advent our Parish will par cipate in an Advent Outreach Drive for Cross Catholic Outreach (CCO). From their website: Cross Catholic Outreach is a 501c3 Catholic relief and development ministry that provides food, shelter, medical care, water, educa on, self-help programs, care for orphans, and emergency relief to the poorest of the poor in Dioceses around the world in the name of Christ. In par cular, our Advent Outreach Drive will support CCO s Homes for Christmas Program. It only costs six-thousand dollars ($6,000) to build a solid, concrete home for a family in Hai. My hope is that our Parish will raise at least six-thousand dollars ($6,000) to build a home for a family in Hai. Hai is the poorest na on in the Western Hemisphere with six out of ten people living on a li le over two dollars a day. Please note that I have researched and found CCO to be a safe organiza on which doesn t support organiza ons promo ng an -Catholic values. Over 95% of their budget goes directly to program services (2.77% Administra on, 1.98% Fundraising). Truly a quality, Catholic non-profit organiza on. Please prayerfully consider suppor ng our Advent Outreach Drive, and look for more informa on in subsequent bulle ns. We will have a Holy Hour and Benedic on for the Solemnity of Christ the King. We will honor the Lord Jesus as King of the Universe next Sunday, November 25th, at 7PM in the Church. Join us for Vespers, Holy Hour, Rosary, and Benedic on of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Bring the whole family; all are Welcome! I would like to thank all of you for responding to the increased need as in the past year, material and monetary dona ons to the OLH Food Pantry have gone down. You inspire me by your stepping up whenever needs arise. Thanks for your ongoing generosity. As we con nue on in this month of November, let us con nue to pray for the souls in purgatory who need our assistance. Let us also remember our Jewish brothers and sisters who con nue to be affected by the violence. God Bless, Fr. Paul November 18, 2018 Thirty-Third Sunday In Ordinary Time 3

Wednesday, December 12, 2018 Holy Rosary begins at 6PM Spanish Mass begins at 7PM ************************************************************************************************* In 1531, a Lady from Heaven appeared to Juan Diego, a humble Na#ve American at Tepeyac, a hill northwest of what is now Mexico City. She iden#fied Herself as the ever Virgin Holy Mary, Mother of the True God for whom we live, of the Creator of all things, Lord of heaven and earth. She made a request for a Church to be built on the site, and Juan Diego submi&ed Her wish to the local Bishop. When the Bishop hesitated, and requested a sign, the Mother of God obeyed without delay or ques#on, sending Her na#ve messenger to the top of the hill in mid-december to gather an assortment of roses for the Bishop. A%er complying to the request for a sign, She le% for us an image of Herself imprinted miraculously on the na#ve s!lma, a poor quality cactus-cloth, which should have deteriorated in 20 years, but shows no sign of decay a%er more than 475 years later. It s#ll defies all scien#fic explana#ons of its origin. Her message is of love and compassion, and a universal promise of help and protec#on to all mankind. An incredible list of miracles, cures, and interven#ons are a&ributed to Her. Yearly, an es#mated 10 million visit Her Basilica, making Her Mexico City home the most popular Marian Shrine in the world, and the most visited Catholic Church in the world next to the Va#can. The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated on December 12th. In 1999, Pope John Paul II, in his homily from the Solemn Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, during his third visit to the sanctuary, declared the date of December the 12th as a Liturgical Holy Day for the whole con#nent. During the same visit, Pope John Paul II entrusted the cause of life to Her loving protec#on, and placed under Her motherly care the innocent lives of children, especially those who are in danger of not being born. Let not your heart be disturbed. Do not fear that nor any other sickness or anguish. Am I not here, who am your Mother? Are you not under my protec!on? Am I not your health? Are you not happily within my fold? What else do you wish? Do not grieve nor be disturbed by anything. Through Your gi of crea on, and the work of our hands, we reap an abundant harvest. We give You thanks for Your many gi s that sustain us; for health and home, dignified labor, for family, friends, neighbors, and those whom today we may s ll consider enemies. As we reflect in thanks this day, may we remember those who lack something we have. May our gra tude move us to love, serve, and give. Together we rejoice in Your gi s, and in Your abundant life!
