STOLE PROJECT Confirmation Class of 2017 The stole, often worn by pastors in worship, is a sign of special designation. In The United Methodist Church we believe in the priesthood of all believers. That means that although clergy preside over worship and most often wear the stole, God uses every Christian for special service. Through the Holy Spirit, anyone has the power to live out Christ s love for us through serving others. To highlight this truth, each confirmand will make a personal stole that will be presented to you on Confirmation Sunday. You will be presented with a red stole that has a dove on one side and is blank on the other. In the Christian church, a dove represents the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers. Your job as a confirmand this year, is to work with your family and your confirmation leaders to design a picture or symbol to represent what Jesus Christ means to you. You should use whatever tools are necessary (books, Google, talking to your family and confirmation leaders) to research and be able to explain your symbol. Once your symbol is chosen, use whatever materials are necessary to put your symbol on your stole. You can draw, applique, embroider, or paste to decorate your stole with your symbol.
