My Dear Friends in Christ, Thank you for your generous response to the second collection last weekend for Catholic Charities. Our parish collected $2,783. The devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas is almost a distant memory after the non-stop news coverage of the damage that occurred by Hurricane Irma in Florida and the Caribbean. As unimaginable as it may seem, hundreds of thousands of people are still trying to come to grips with the huge tasks they face in order to rebuild their homes and bring a sense of normalcy back into their lives. We know that the recovery efforts and rebuilding will take months if not years. Over the next two months we will be asked to reach out and support other charitable projects such as CISE, Right to Life, World Missions and the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. We all have personal financial obligations, but it is our Christian calling to always reach out and help others who need our help. Please consider how you might be able to sacrifice in some way to support at least one of these worthy causes. Remember whatsoever you did to the least of my people Resurrection St. Lawrence Holy Family St. Joseph St. Francis St. Boniface St. Francis Corryville West End Seraph de Sales Catholic In 1980, Catholic Inner-city Schools Education Fund (CISE) was established to help combat poverty in Cincinnati s inner-city neighborhoods. CISE was founded to give all children, regardless of their religious backgrounds and economic circumstances, the opportunity to receive a quality education at a neighborhood Catholic school. Today there are over 1,800 students receiving a quality education in eight CISE elementary schools and more than 300 CISE school graduates attending local Catholic high schools with support from the CISE High School Program. Students in eight Catholic elementary schools in Cincinnati s poorest neighborhoods are thriving. CISE preschools provide our youngest learners with a strong start. A full-time nurse is available in each CISE school to meet a variety of health care needs. Resource coordinators help ensure students are engaged in enriching summer learning. Each year, an increasing number of students attend Catholic high schools and are accepted into college. Many will be the first in their families to graduate from high school. CISE COLLECTION: SEPTEMBER 23-24 Your support is appreciated. Parishioners using envelopes will find an offering envelope in their packet. You can also make a contribution through Faith Direct or by using one of the CISE Collection envelopes found on the table at the side entrance to the church.

Are you in need of a Catholic Update? Are you considering becoming Catholic - or do you know of someone who might be? Have you been baptized but never confirmed? General Information Meeting and Introduction: Wednesday, Sept. 27. No commitment required! This year we plan to try something new! In addition to offering instruction for those who are considering joining the Catholic Church, we are inviting all parishioners who might be interested in learning more (or maybe re-learning what they missed or forgot or never understood completely) about the liturgy and the sacraments, prayer and spirituality, Catholic traditions and customs, the Liturgical Year, moral theology and Catholic teachings on social justice. Topics will be announced in the bulletin. All are invited to attend. We are hoping that by including cradle Catholics, converts from other faith traditions, and those who are considering being baptized or confirmed - or those who just want to learn more about the Catholic faith, we can have interesting discussions and learn from one another. Wednesday, September 27 Topic: The Spriritual Journey and A Life of Faith 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Parish Center

This item of business will be addressed at the joint meeting of the Parish Council & Finance Council on Sept. 18. Thank You to the 60 Parishioner individuals, couples, or families who continue to sacrifice and support this archdiocesan community foundation.
