NOVEMBER /2018 The Tennessee State Club of Winnebago International Travelers INSIDE THIS ISSUE VSW Membership.1 New Members..1 President s Corner.....2 Minutes...4-5 Sunshine Corner...... 5 Contact Info.......... 6 2019 VSW MEMBERSHIP Our Treasurer, Joe Moore, either has or will shortly send a message to members who are due to renew their VSW membership for 2019. Hope that you still have your Winnebago product line and WIT membership and continue with us. With Biennial TN State Rally coming up in October hope to see you all at some or all of our 2019 outings. New Members Since the September Newsletter, we welcome these new members Ted & Karen Matuszewski of Granville, TN Jim & Lorene Cathey of Knoxville, TN Steve & Linda Rogers of Lynchburg, TN Welcome and we hope to see you at many of the chapter and state outings.

PRESIDENT S CORNER Fall came in with a vengeance with a lot of our members thinking of the return to the warmer climates of the south. Before heading out be sure you have marked your calendar for VSW s spring outing at the Ag Center in Lebanon for April 25-28, 2019 and for 50th Anniversary of the WIT Club and Grand National Rally July 22-27, 2019 at Forest City, IA and then October 17-20, 2019 for our biennial Rally to be held at the Ward Ag Center in Lebanon, TN. The theme this year is Tennessee Music. Check the VSW web site www.tnvolstatewinnies.org for some preliminary information. We are looking at some new and different off site activities for both the April outing and October Rally. Keith Mobley has been appointed VSW Web Master. He has been busy updating and modifying the website. The site is for our members utilization for timely information, thus if you have any comments and/or recommendations please keep us informed. This update and modification goes along with WIT s changing environment of trying to put more current information on their web site, www.witclub.com, rather than in the hard copy magazine when information is included well in advance of publication. I, for one, have to change my way of waiting for written news coming to me & start looking at the web sites periodically to obtain more current and timely information. Also I know where I can find certain information quickly rather than shuffling through files of papers.. My recommendation is to periodically go to www.witclub.com and check out recent news sent in by the WIT Clubs and Chapters to include the rally news, then see if anything is new at GNR, followed by clicking on the map showing the state of TN to see the TN Club and chapter news. At the VSW info you can click on the VSW web site www.tnvolstatewinnies.org ( just a simple click). The VSW web site will come up. Suggest you check everything on the site during the first viewing to become familiar with what it contains. How many times couldn t you find the latest newsletter that had some info you wanted? Past issues, as well as state and Chapter outing schedules and more are right at your finger tips. Keith reports that last week, the first after the complete rehab had 131 visits when all visited 6 pages on the site. There is some repetition on the two sites, but that is good. Hopefully our members and other state members will be better informed, especially with the up coming rally. It has been recommended that VSW set up a Facebook Group. Initial investigation reveals that that WIT had set up a website in RVVillage for Vol State Winnies and all three chapters. There has been no activity on them. There is or was a VSW Facebook Group, but if used, was only very limited. I notice that VSW members input on the WIT face book group is seldom used. WIT and Winnebago have several Facebook Groups, including for different models of Winnebago RV s. My question is do we really need another WIT group on Facebood? Lack of use may be the result of not promoting it. If we had one is there a need and who would use it? Don t forget Mark your calendars and enjoy the coming months. NOTE REQUEST ALL MEMBERS WHO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A VSW FACEBOOK GROUP RESPOND BY REPLYING TO ME AT RVWIGGERS59@GMAIL.COM WITH YOUR DESIRE AND INCLUDE WHAT TYPE OF INFORMATION YOU FEEL WOULD BE BENEFICIAL TO THE MEMBERS AND ANY RESTRICTIONS THAT SHOULD BE IMPLE- MEMTED IN SETTING UP THE ACCOUNT. IF THERE IS ADEQUATE INTEREST, WE CAN SET UP AN ACCOUNT AND THEN LIST IT ON OUR WEB SITE AND PROMOTE ITS USE. 2

October 2018 Outing at Lebanon, TN The Vol State Winnies held their fall campout at the James E. Ward Agriculture Center in Lebanon, TN on October 25-28, 2018. Sixteen coaches were in attendance. Members in attendance were Butlers, Craig's, Dixons. Doyle, Dyer, Entner, King, Logan, Maxwell, McKitrick, Moore, Nickles, Potts, Ralston, Rogers and Wiggers. Eleven of the members braved the light rain to visit the Historic Manskar s Station in Goodlettsville. A highlight of the tour was the explanation and demonstration of how the early settlers made water color paints. The docent had made many paintings with his hand made water colors. He demonstrated the gradual cracking and grinding of special rock into a very fine powder, then mixing with a special tree sap to create an adhesive condition. Also explained how mixing of a few colors could turn into a multicolor picture. In addition, he demonstrated turning timbers into various household items. They sell several wood items they make in the Visitor s Center. Another highlight of the campout was the presentation of the WIT 10 year Anniversary patches to the Rocky Top Travelers () & West Tennessee Travelers (WTT) Chapters. Three charter individuals from the Chapters were present. For Glenn/Irene Craig, and Ralph Wiggers and WTT Ken/Jeanette Dixon and Judy Doyle. The third VSW Chapter, the Music City Winnies celebrated their 44th Anniversary in August at Salt Lick Creek Campground. Initial planning is underway for our TN State Rally on October 17-20, 2019 celebrating Tennessee Music.
