WELCOME TO BETHANY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Enter this Church not as a stranger, but as a guest of God. May the blessings of God rest upon you, both in your coming in and your going out. We are delighted to have you in worship. We ask that you please sign the Fellowship Pad at the end of the pew. For your convenience, we have a warm and loving nursery adjacent to the sanctuary, complete with an available paging system. We also have a Cry Room at the back of the Sanctuary (near the ushers table) on the pulpit side with windows and a speaker so that you can see and hear the service. If you have any questions or need literature regarding the life of Bethany Presbyterian Church, please visit the Welcome Center, located next to the sanctuary. Please turn off cell phones and pagers before worship. Thank you. *Indicates all who are able, please stand. The Chiming of the Hour We Gather Before God The Welcome and News of the Church The Prelude Prayer R. Powell *The Call to Worship *The Hymn no. 342 Rejoice, the Lord is King! *The Prayer of Confession Great and awesome, Almighty God, we come before You with songs of praise and words of adoration. In our worship we rejoice in Your power and glory; we proclaim Your greatness and grandeur. Yet often our individual lives demonstrate a different story. Doubts confine us. Fears inhibit us. Worries overwhelm us. So often we allow our minds to dwell on the immediacy of our circumstances and we act as though we must overcome by our own strength, power and wisdom. Forgive us, O Lord. Fill us with the wonder of Your sovereignty and may your peace guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen. *Silent Prayer *The Assurance of Pardon

NEWS FOR THE BODY OF CHRIST The church office voice mail is not always working after hours. If you call and it does not go to voicemail, please call the office back during regular business hours. The phone system will be upgraded by the end of the summer. Thank you for your patience with this matter. Washington City Mission had a fire destroy the kitchen. The dining areas and the men's living quarters had severe smoke damage. Bethany has been set up to be a collection center for some of the mission s needs. Items can be dropped off during church hours and we will see that the mission gets them. Also, volunteers will be needed to prepare meals in the month of August. More information will follow in future bulletins. For the month of July, the Church office hours will be 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday thru Thursday, and 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM on Fridays. If you have a need outside of those hours please call the church office to make arrangements. 412-221-5132. Thank you. The Smooshed Women s Group will be taking a break for the months of July and August. We will resume our meetings in September. Have a great summer! We are providing lunches for 100 children at South Hills Interfaith Ministries (SHIM) Summer Program once a week. We will need help on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. making the lunches. If you can help just show up in the kitchen, or call Lynne Suchoza at 412-221-7484 if you have questions. SAVE THE DATE! Bethany Church Picnic will be on August 30!
