Dorothy Ann Wood Robertson Dorothy Ann Wood Robertson better known by her loved ones and friends as Dot of Greensboro, Georgia, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at her residence at the age of 77. Dot was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 22, 1937 to the late Charles Eugene Wood and Dorothy Katherine Chick Wood. She considered Savannah to be her hometown since she moved there when she was 4 years old as a result of a drop transfer her father had while working with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. She attended high school at St. Vincent s Academy for girls. In 1973 Dot graduated from UGA, Cum Laude, with a B.S. in Nursing. Dot worked as a professional nurse in many capacities such as public health, mental health, case management, and has also worked with the American Red Cross as a swim and canoe instructor. Dot retired in 2014. She was happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends. She loved UGA football (season ticket holder for the last 27 years), golfing, boating, fishing, reading, shooting guns, going on cruises, visiting the mountains, watercolor painting, home decorating, dancing, entertaining and cards of any kind. Dot was the founder and Queen Mother of the Creme de la Crimson Red Hatters chapter in Milledgeville, Georgia. She was a member of the Oconee Lodge of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks (first female member in Eatonton, Georgia), a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), office holder in the Milledgeville Newcomers Club, a Helping Hands Society volunteer at the Sacred Heart Church in Milledgeville, Georgia, a member of the Greene County Republican Party Executive Committee, volunteer for Oconee Regional Humane Society, and she was in two Bridge Clubs and starting a third. Dot absolutely loved animals, especially DAWGS and currently had two cats. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Michael and a daughter Kelly Suzanne Lucken. She is survived by a daughter, Holly Marie Whitehead and husband David of Colbert, Georgia; and four grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Kayla and Billie Michelle whom she raised from the age of 3. She is survived by other relatives and many friends. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Roberto Herrera officiating. There will be a luncheon and celebration of her life in the lower level social hall following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorials be made to the Oconee Regional Humane Society, 1020 Park Avenue #101, Greensboro, GA 30642. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
