People: Let us come into God s presence with thanksgiving; Let us make a joyful noise with songs of praise! Leader: For the Lord is a great God And a great King above all gods. People: In God s hands are the depths of the earth, The heights of the mountains, The sea and dry land. Leader: Come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! People: For the Lord is our God, We are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. (Portions of Psalm 95:1-7) The Opening Prayer (In Unison) Loving Lord, you are a king like no other. Nations and rulers rise and fall, but your reign is for all time and your mercy is without end. While we seek the privilege and power of royalty, you set aside the glory and majesty of heaven to become our servant-savior. Be with us now as we worship you. Lift our hearts and strengthen our voices as we bow before you in praise and adoration. Amen. *The Opening Hymn #276 Rejoice, the Lord Is King (Sing to the Lord) (Ushers will collect prayer requests. Please pass them to the side aisles.) Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church 201 E. The Prayer of Confession (In Unison) Gracious God, we claim you as our Lord and King but we are not your faithful subjects. We offer you shallow allegiance and half-hearted obedience. We do not love as you command. We do not forgive as you teach. We do not serve as you ask. Forgive us, Lord. Rule our hearts and govern our spirits so that we may be your kingdom people loyal and loving and true. Amen. Merry Meloy The Church Responds *The Affirmation of Faith - Apostles' Creed (In Unison) I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. The Prayers of the People and Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. The Offertory Invitation We have been enriched and strengthened in so many ways by the gifts of God. Now we have the privilege of helping to further Christ s kingdom by sharing those gifts and ourselves. Let us give as we have been blessed. Please sign and pass the Friendship Registers located near the center aisle. Thank you! The Offertory Organ Offertory Chuck Davey *The Congregation Sings in Response #7 Praise God, Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heav nly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. November First Sunday Mission Offering Our First Sunday Mission Offering in November goes to the Samaritan Counseling Center of Western Pennsylvania. The Center is a faith-based, non-profit organization that helps individuals and families find spiritual, emotional and physical healing through professional counseling and educational programs. Samaritan Counselors seek to provide more than a relief from symptoms; they strive to help clients discover and address those factors that are keeping them from becoming the people God intends them to be. The Center offers a variety of services, including one-on-one counseling for adults, children, adolescents, couples and families, spiritual direction, grief support services, and group seminars. Fees are adjusted according to a client s ability to pay. The Center is funded, in part, by contributions from churches, organizations, individuals, and foundations. Samaritan Counseling has locations in Allegheny, Beaver and Butler Counties. To help fund this quiet but vital ministry, simply use a First Sunday Mission Offering envelope found in the pew racks or mark First Sunday Mission in the memo portion of your check. Thank you!
