2017 Lund Lutheran Church 25213 County Highway 21 Detroit Lakes, MN 56501 218-847-9662 www.lundlutheran.org A member of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ Pastor: Jim Osvold

Dear brothers and sisters in faith, I am so excited to be among you serving as your pastor for the next few months. I look forward to getting to know each of you and to grow in the faith with you all. Jane and I have so much to be thankful for. You folks took us in right away. It is our joy and privilege to be here. Now, a little more about us. I grew up on a farm west of Morris, Minnesota. Alberta (6 miles west of Morris) to be exact. Like the saying goes, You can take the kid out of the farm, but you can t take the farm out of the kid. How true that is. I enjoy serving in the rural community which Lund is. My dad and mother retired from farming in 1998 and we had a farm auction. They have since moved to a townhome in Morris. As some of you already know, my mother is dealing with Acute Myloid Leukemia. Please remember to daily pray for her and my father. I have one brother and two sisters. I attended college at Golden Valley Lutheran College from 1976-78. Then went to North Dakota State University in Fargo for four years and graduated in December of 1982 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. Following graduation I worked in the Fargo-Moorhead area for about 6 years. My wife Jane and I were married August 1 st of 1987. I began my seminary training at Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary in St. Paul in the fall of 1988. During my time in seminary Jane and I became parents of two beautiful daughters, Rachael and Leana. I graduated from seminary in May of 1992. Was ordained at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alberta June 7 th of 1992 and began serving a two point parish (Zion & St. Olaf) in Odin, Minnesota. Odin is about 45 miles west of Mankato. I served there for 9 ½ years. We moved to Menahga (First English & Bethany) fall of 2001. Added a third church to the parish in 2013. Left there in May of 2017. Our oldest daughter Rachael is married to a great husband and father, Dan Towers and we have 2 wonderful grand-daughters (Nora who s going to be 3 November 8 th & Greta who just turned 1 in June). Rachael and Dan live in Hawley. Rachael is an RN for Sanford and Dan is a mechanical engineer. Our youngest daughter Leana lives in Brainerd and works at Grand View Lodge as their marketing person. She has a degree from Bemidji State in Business with an emphasis in Marketing. Leana will be getting married to Matthew Nelson next June at Appledorn s Resort on Mille Lacs. Jane has 2 sisters Judy Dulek from Winona, MN & Joan Schumaker of Santa Rosa, CA. Her parents and her brother have been gone for a few years now. If you ever want to stop by and visit me, please feel free to do so. My door is always open. Bring any concerns, joys, or whatever and I would be happy to discuss them with you. Again, Jane and I are overjoyed to be in your midst here at Lund and we give God thanks for that. May God richly bless our time together!! November Blessings, Pastor Steve 2

Hello there, Mousey here. To God be the Glory! What another beautiful fall. I got to go on a road trip with friends twice. The leaves were so cool, especially when they were reflected in the water. God makes a beautiful rainbow of colors in our area. The fall also brought us the famous Lund Swedish Meatball Dinner. Lots of people to run around, both friends and new people. Pastor Steve was talking one day about God giving each of us gifts that we are able to do. Some are able to bake really good, some are able to read the lessons, some serve communion, some are ushers. Others light the candles, prepare the feast of communion, some teach the little kid lets, and others teach the bigger kids. Then there is the meatball dinner, where almost everyone that comes to Lund, pitch in and work. It could not be done without everyone doing what they feel they can do. A special thanks to Judy for coordinating all that goes on, and Robin and Jennifer for getting the shopping done. A special thanks to Lynda and Willie Hultin for taking care of the messages on the signs. I ve heard people that come and visit say what a friendly greeting they receive. I could go on and on. We are a talented group in our church and for that we can all thank God, that he has provided Lund the people it needs. May God Bless everyone s Thanksgiving, and please save me some scraps to make it till Christmas. Love you all! Till next month. Mousey During the week of Thanksgiving I will be in the office on Monday, November 20th. Thank you, Pam Pastor Bruer s office hours 9:00am Noon Tuesday Thursday Secretary office hours 9:30am 12:30 pm Wednesday & Thursday 8
