2 Sunday, November 26, 2017 Christ the King 25th Sunday after Pentecost ELW Holy Communion Setting Three *Indicates Congregation to stand as you are able GATHERING The Holy Spirit calls us together as the people of God. *CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS All may make the sign of the cross, the sign marked at baptism, as the presiding minister begins. P: Blessed be the holy Trinity, one God, who calls us into an everlasting hope, who guides us to springs of the water of life, who enlightens us with the spirit of wisdom. C: Amen. P: One with the communion of saints in all times and places, let us confess our sin against God and one another. Silence for reflection and self-examination. P: O God, our merciful redeemer, C: we confess the ways we live only for ourselves. We fail to see you in our neighbor s face. We turn our ears from voices that cry out. We pass by the hungry and the oppressed. In your great mercy, forgive our sin and strengthen us for service to all in need; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. P: In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for you, and for his sake, God forgives you all your sin. Blessed are you! Rejoice and be glad, beloved people of God. C: Amen.

*GATHERING SONG Evening and Morning ELW 761 *GREETING P: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. C: And also with you. *PRAYER OF THE DAY A: Let us pray. God of hope, How often have we found ourselves in exile, separated from your presence! Restore us, and let us find you when we seek you. Amen. CHOIR Give Thanks PSALM: Psalm 95:1-7a A: 1 Come, let us sing to the Lord; let us shout for joy to the rock of our salvation. C: 2 Let us come before God s presence with thanksgiving and raise a loud shout to the Lord with psalms. A: 3 For you, Lord, are a great God, and a great ruler a- bove all gods. C: 4 In your hand are the caverns of the earth; the heights of the hills are also yours. R A: 5 The sea is yours, for you made it, and your hands have molded the dry land. C: 6 Come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our maker. A: 7a For the Lord is our God, and we are the people of God s pasture and the sheep of God s hand. THE READING: Jeremiah 29:1, 4-14 1 These are the words of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the remaining elders among the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. 4 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: 5 Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat what they produce. 6 Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. 7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. 8 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let the prophets and the diviners who are among you deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams that they dream, 9 for it is a lie that they are prophesying to you in my name; I did not send them, says the LORD. 10 For thus says the LORD: Only when Babylon's seventy years are completed will I visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. 11 For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. 12 Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. 13 When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, 14 I will let you find me, says the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile. L: Word of God, word of life. C: Thanks be to God. TIME FOR CHILDREN SERMON *HYMN OF THE DAY Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven ELW 865 4

*APOSTLES' CREED A: With the whole church let us confess our faith I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.* On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. *PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION A: Welcoming God s reign of righteousness and mercy, let us pray with people of every time and place. A brief silence. A: Almighty God, your merciful rule encompasses all the world. As we gather for worship in safety, we pray for places where the church is persecuted. Watch over your people as they witness to your good news... A: Lord, in your mercy, C: hear our prayer. A: Receive these prayers and the hopes and concerns of our hearts, O God, as we entrust into your loving care all for whom we pray, through Jesus Christ our Lord. C: Amen. 5

*PEACE P: The peace of Christ be with you always. C: And also with you. MISSION MINUTE OFFERING *OFFERTORY Let the Vineyards Be Fruitful ELW 182 OFFERING PRAYER A: Creator God, you made everything, and you provide for every need. The bread we break and the wine we pour come from you. As we eat and drink with thanksgiving, fill us with your love; let that love flow through us to others; and join us to the saints before us in a holy and boundless communion; through Jesus Christ our Lord. C: Amen. *GREAT THANKSGIVING *DIALOGUE P: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you. P: Lift up your hearts. C: We lift them to the Lord. P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C: It is right to give our thanks and praise. *PREFACE *HOLY, HOLY, HOLY Page 144 *THANKSGIVING AT THE TABLE 6

*LORD S PRAYER P: Lord, remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. *INVITATION TO COMMUNION Hunger no more. Thirst no more. Come to the banquet of life. LAMB OF GOD Page 146 COMMUNION HYMN Come with Us, O Blessed Jesus ELW 501 COMMUNION HYMN We Come to the Hungry Feast ELW 479 PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION A: Sovereign God, in this meal you give us a foretaste of the great feast to come. Keep us faithful to you, that we, with all your saints, may at length celebrate the marriage feast of the Lamb, Jesus Christ our Lord. C: Amen.
