As of November 9th we have received $68,551.63 in pledges. 43.51 %of our goal from 352 donors. House of Mercy prepares for a harsh Winter!! House of Mercy has an endless need for coats, hats, gloves, scarves, boots, wool socks and hand warmers to keep people warm and protected against frostbite and hypothermia. Dona ons of NEW or GENTLY USED clothing are needed. All sizes infants to adults are accepted. Extra large sizes 1X, 2X, 3X are appreciated. We are in need of volunteers to deliver baskets. Please consider delivering a basket or two this year. It is a profound experience to serve God in this way. Please call Jeanne Su on at 227-0173 if you can help us out or just show up around 12:00 pm Sunday to sign up for a delivery. We will meet in the Main Room of Deacon Hall the morning of Sunday, November 18th to sort the foodstuffs and fill baskets. If you would like to help sort and fill baskets, please come a er any Mass on Sunday. Usually everything is sorted quickly and deliveries can begin by 12:00 pm. Our Share Sunday collec on will be foods appropriate for a Thanksgiving Dinner such as: Canned vegetables Bags of fresh potatoes Sweet Potatoes Cranberry sauce Stuffing Gravy mixes, cans or jars Canned fruit Foil pan for Turkey Bread Coffee, Tea (We cannot accept homemade foods.) We will also need 50 frozen turkeys. If you would be willing to donate a turkey (FROZEN ONLY) please call Jeanne Su on at 227-0173. All turkeys should be dropped off on Sunday, November 18 th between 8-11 AM (We cannot accept turkeys on Saturday night because of lack of freezer space.) Confessions will be heard at 8 a.m. and again at the end of the program. Our speakers are Liz and Kent Gilges. Their daughter Elie was diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was nine months old. She was given six weeks to live. By the grace of God, Elie lived ten years, touching the lives of many people including Pope John Paul II. Elie, who never spoke, was Kent's bridge to Jesus, as he eloquently writes in his book A Grace Given. Kent was an agnos c un l he entered the Church five years a er she died. Together Liz and Kent have come to see that everything is grace; even the death of a child. They want to share their story to illustrate how God's hand orchestrated it all.
