Welcome to our parish! As pastor, I hope we can enrich your experience as much as you enrich ours. Fr. David Ruby Some of the Faith Formation students visited with some of the residents of Scandia Village for Christmas. 2 Welcome to Stella Maris in Baileys Harbor, Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, Jacksonport, Sister Bay & Washington Island Help Wanted: Someone interested in working 5-10 hours per week to research, write and send out the Weekly Worship Notes. A basic knowledge of the liturgy is necessary, as well as proficiency with computer skills and with Word. This is a paid position. You will be trained! Contact Father Dave or the parish office if you'd like to apply. Faith Formation Christian Service & Responsibility As I thought about New Year's resolutions, the Ten Commandments came to mind. As I thought about our children and teens at Youth Faith Formation, I came across an article titled "Ten Commandments for Children and Teens." 1. Realize that you are a child of God, made in His image and likeness of God... Given all these wonderful Truths, prayer must be an important part of your daily life. 2. Realize that Jesus lives in your heart. He is there to inspire, console and guide you each step of the way. 3. Be open to the Holy Spirit, especially as He guides you through the lives and work of your parents, your parish priest and your teachers. 4. Be careful of the TV programs you watch, the internet sites you access and the kind of music you listen to. So much is filled with violence, immorality and selfishness. 5. Realize that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and that your sexuality is a great gift from Almighty God. 6. Often tell your mother and your father how much you love and appreciate them. 7. Be loving and kind to your parents and to your brothers and sisters. Each and everyone should be generous and tireless in forgiving one another for offenses, quarrels, injustices and neglect. 8. While being kind to everyone, do be selective of your friends. St. Paul states: Bad company corrupts good morals. (1 Corinthians 15:33). 9. Set aside an hour or so for study each evening. Education is a lifelong process. 10. Ask God to show you what He wants you to be as you grow older. Ask Him and trust Him to put His plans for you in your mind and heart. I believe the original Ten Commandments and these commandments of encouragement for children and teens are all good resolutions for a blessed New Year. If you are in financial need, Stella Maris needs to help you. Please call the parish office or speak with Father Ruby.
