Reports from Parish and Family Life Ministry updates, and Suanne s Ministry updates are attached at the end of the minutes. Additions to those reports include: Prayer ministry Ed Woodman reported that encounter ministries summer training has tentatively been scheduled for August 19 th after Saturday Mass and will be confirmed in a couple weeks. Northland Deanery No updates. Youth Activities are winding down the school year. Gospel Road is currently full and taking no additional youth registrations. Blessed Week ever currently has 3 youth spots available. Old Business Pastor Comments: Fr Jim. o There will be a possible revamping of the Youth Ministry. Details to follow. o Although our Parish is renowned for its welcoming, the Meeting /Greeting Ministry requires some changes including adding a sign Are you new? to encourage reaching out to the visitors. The plan is to separate the usher and greeting functions and triple the number of greeters. We need more smiling greeters welcoming everyone. Training for greeters will be stepped up. o A yearly schedule for Liturgical Minister training will be completed by July. o The Mass on Father s Day (6/18) is also Corpus Christi Procession Sunday. Following the 11:00 Mass, Father Jim will lead a processional on the public thoroughfare around the church property escorted by New Albany Police. Corpus Christi (Body and Blood of Christ) is a Eucharistic solemnity, or better, the solemn commemoration of the institution of that sacrament. And will include the first communicants and confirmation students. Next year Father Jim plans to extend the processional to Market Street, New Albany.

o May crowning of Mary will be held at children s Mass on May 20 th Suggestion Box: Marise Petry o A suggestion regarding tornado was made: We are now into the season of weather changes like severe weather or tornados. I would like to see something in the bulletin about what to do if in church and tornado sirens sound. It might even be good to have a drill at church. Logistically difficult to conduct a drill. o A Mass Suggestion was made: I would enjoy at least one mass per Sunday being more traditional. A little less music and singing, interrupting just praying. A suggestion that daily Mass provides just that was made by Susan Crum. Since the suggestion was made anonymously no formal response will be made. o Suggestion regarding introducing guests was again made. Fr. Jim will work with Liturgical committee to possibly implement a card completion that can be read by the first reader during Mass introductions. (From Principal 2) Child Safety Program: Neil Horn and Susan Crum. This event has been postponed to ensure that communication is made and attendance is driven. This exercise drove the realization that a communication plan is needed for ensure that the appropriate staff and ministry leads are engaged early in the process. Fr. Jim will provide a checklist for future planning. Book Great Catholic Parishes: Discussion led to plans to ensure that all new PPC members get a copy of the book. Website updates Leon Milnes Reported that 732 App downloads have been made as of 5/7/17 Returning Catholic & Catholic Update Program Al Hannum: Will start in the fall. Details to follow. Ray Radigan Award: Schedule discussed and decided. o Pulpit announcements May 27 & 28 We need 3 people to make the announcement from PFC or PPC. Please contact Marise Petry asap. (614-264-4014) o Nominations due June 18 th o Decisions made at the June 21 st PPC/PFC meeting o Announcement made 6/24-25 weekend Parish Picnic Jim D Amico: Picnic date is August 26, 2017. Planning meeting completed 5/10. Decided on same format as last year s picnic. Help signups will be made in July. More particulars next month. PPC Selection: Schedule and Logistics were discussed. Social Concerns Ministry The next meeting will be held on Thu., March 9, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the staff conference room. The Social Concerns Ministry decided it wanted to do more to help the parish and the community. The are asking volunteer help for the following: 1) Babysitters were needed for the Momnipotent Program for new mothers We are pleased to report that we had a good response for babysitters..

2) Social Concerns wants to start a program to pair elderly/housebound/lonely parishioners with a buddy. We are looking for buddies! This volunteer opportunity would require only that you visit/call/check in with a person with whom you will be paired. This would not require delivery of Eucharist, any special training, or providing rides. The idea is merely to interact with someone who could use some genuine human contact. 3) Social Concerns wants to start a program to send cards to persons in prison. This activity would likely mainly take place around holidays and may involve forwarding of recycled Catholic publications. The mailings would never require you to identify yourself or your address. 4) Our parish will be helping again this year with the Gahanna Lunch Program in June. Respect Life Ministry Planning for Lumen Christi Day is underway. The tentative date for this year is Saturday, October 14. Ministry to Children in El Salvador.
