Glory to God ALL Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth. Lord God, heavenly king, almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory. Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us; you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. for you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth. Amen. Collect of the Day Almighty God, you sent your Son Jesus Christ to be the light of the world. Free us from all that darkens and ensnares us, and bring us to eternal light and joy; through the power of him who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. We are called to love God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength. We believe in Jesus the Christ, who was born of Mary. Through his life and teachings we learn to love one another, and through his own love and compassion we see the heart of God revealed. 4

We believe in the Holy Spirit, endlessly creating and renewing the breath of God within us. Amen. The Prayers of the (Please Stand, Sit or Kneel, as is your custom) Leader Lord, in your mercy Hear our prayer. Confession and Absolution Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy; he welcomes sinners and invites them to his table. Let us confess our sins, confident in God s forgiveness. Silence is kept. All Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen. Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Peace (Please Stand) The peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you. 5

Announcements The Celebration of the Eucharist Offertory Hymn 506, Lord of All Hopefulness The Prayer over the Gifts Holy God, in this eucharist we renew our baptismal covenant. Help us, through our offering this day, to renounce all things that draw us from your love. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Great Thanksgiving Eucharistic Prayer 1 The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. It is indeed right that we should praise you, gracious God, for you created all things. You formed us in your own image: male and female you created us. When we turned away from you in sin, you did not cease to care for us, but opened a path of salvation for all people. You made a covenant with Israel, and through your servants Abraham and Sarah gave the promise of a blessing to all nations. Through Moses you led your people from bondage into freedom; through the prophets you renewed your promise of salvation. Therefore, with them, and with all your saints who have served you in every age, we give thanks and raise our voices to proclaim the glory of your name. 6

All Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. (At this time, please feel free to remain standing, sit or kneel for the remainder of the prayer) Holy God, source of life and goodness, all creation rightly gives you praise. In the fullness of time, you sent your Son Jesus Christ, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all. He healed the sick and ate and drank with outcasts and sinners; he opened the eyes of the blind and proclaimed the good news of your kingdom to the poor and to those in need. In all things he fulfilled your gracious will. On the night he freely gave himself to death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread, and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, Take, eat: this is my body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, Drink this, all of you: this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me. All Gracious God, his perfect sacrifice destroys the power of sin and death; by raising him to life you give us life for evermore. Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith. Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. 7

All Silence Recalling his death, proclaiming his resurrection, and looking for his coming again in glory, we offer you, Father, this bread and this cup. Send your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these gifts, that all who eat and drink at this table may be one body and one holy people, a living sacrifice in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory is yours, almighty Father, now and for ever. Amen. As our Saviour taught us, let us pray, Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. The Breaking of the Bread All We break the bread of life, and that life is the light of the world. God here among us, light in the midst of us, bring us to light and life. The gifts of God for the of God. Thanks be to God. All are welcome to receive the sacrament or a blessing. If you wish to receive the sacrament, you may receive the wafer alone or the wafer with wine from the chalice. Please refrain from intinction (dipping the wafer in the cup). 8

Communion Hymns 43, 62, 563 (please join in the singing of these hymns) Prayer after Communion (Please Stand) Gracious God, in this sacrament we have shared the body and blood of Christ. May we who have been nourished by holy things bear witness to his light, and share in his eternal priesthood; for he is Lord for ever and ever. The Doxology Amen. All Glory to God, whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, In the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen. The Blessing Recessional Hymn 374, Alleluia, Sing to Jesus Leader Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Thanks be to God. Postlude Adagio & Poco Allegro-Coda (Vesper Voluntaries) Elgar (the postlude is part of the service and you are invited to stay & enjoy this music) Each Sunday, immediately following the postlude at the 10 am service, we offer the laying on of hands with anointing for healing at the front pew near the piano. All are welcome. At this time you may request prayer for healing for yourself or for someone you know. Thank you for being with us at our worship this morning. It ll look like a slow-motion horse race which will last all year! Here are our current numbers as of Nov. 11th. Each week, the budget for givings is $7,841.87. Budget Actual Difference Last Week $7,841.87 $9,112.56 $1,270.69 Year to Date $352,884.15 $347,416.75 -$5,467.40 Another great week in our horse race. Great job, everyone! In last week s givings I also included what came in last week for our 184th anniversary donations. This fortunately pushed us even further into the black for this week s givings dropping our current deficit for the 2018 givings line to just under $5,500. We re really working our way toward achieving our budget for givings! We do hope that many more will still consider giving a special gift of $184 to celebrate our 184 years as a parish, and to mark all that St. Luke s means to you. If you cannot give the whole $184, could you consider giving half ($92) or a quarter ($46?) However you give, we thank you for your support so far and for your continued commitment to the ministry and mission of St. Luke s through your financial support, your prayers, and the giving of your time and yourself. May God bless all we are able to accomplish in 2018 through your support. 13
