We're glad to be celebrating 50 Years with you! 62 Places for a Fresh Expression... Who is in your community that your church is currently not reaching? For whom is your heart breaking? With whom might God be inviting you to engage in life together? These are the kinds of questions that we begin to ask as we consider what it looks like to move from the Steeple to the Streets. There's still time to register for Fresh Expressions Vision Day on Friday, May 18th! Please take three minutes today to respond to the All In Community Survey below. Earlier respondents are giving us a clearer picture of the wide-spread presence of incarceration and crime in the lives of our members and community neighbors. Please take three minutes right now to complete the survey, if you haven't already, so that we may have the most robust perspective for building God's kingdom in our Ohio River Valley District mission field. Thank you! - Reba Collins Click this link to start the survey!

Back to Table of Contents Educational Opportunities Next #TeachingTuesday The Difference Your Parsonage Can Make! Tuesday, May 15 11:30am-1:30pm or 6pm-8pm Parsonages are the backbone of the itinerant ministry. Safe, clean housing for parsonage families is one of the best lowcost benefits a church can have for recruitment of clergy leadership to their church. In addition, parsonages are springboards to excellence in ministry. Join DS Todd Anderson and Rex Gordon, Chair of the ORV Church Location and Building Committee for housing insights that make a difference in the ministry of your church. Items to be discussed include care and maintenance, the parsonage as investment strategy, accessibility, and boundaries. Teaching Tuesdays are offered FREE at 11:30 AM or 6 PM and include a meal. Sign up online here!

Have you signed up for Boundary Training yet? Boundary training focuses on developing healthy boundaries in ministry and is specific to the role of a clergy person. One of the most interesting dynamics is the power difference between a person in a ministerial role and a member of his or her congregation. Other topics include personal and professional health and the use of social media. This training is required for all actively serving clergy and retired clergy under appointment. Cost is $25.00 per person. All events will be held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Episcopal Office, Cabinet and the Office of Ministry have worked together to plan and implement this vital training. All materials will be provided for you. Starting Friday, March 16, please register for one of these events on the conference website. Information for Churches on Workers Comp Plans The West Ohio Conference works diligently to administer the group Workers Compensation Plan in which every West Ohio church is a member. We are coming up on the open enrollment period for Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), a time every two years that will result in nearly every Ohio employer being solicited for business, including churches. Here's what you need to know: - You do not need to take any action; do not sign up with any other company. You may disregard all inquiries. - West Ohio Conference group plan will continue using 888 Ohio Comp as our Managed Care Organization. - Open enrollment for MCO's is from April 30 - May 25, 2018. You will almost certainly be solicited by multiple MCO's and possibly multiple times. - Your church will automatically remain with 888 Ohio Comp as MCO for the next two-year period. - As always, if you have questions or concerns, our Third Party Administrator, Comp Management, is available to answer questions at 1-800-825-6755. Or contact our Managed Care Organization, 888 Ohio Comp, at 1-888-OHIOCOMP. Any other questions, feel free to contact Joy Perry at jperry@wocumc.orgor 1-800-437-0028, ext 222. Back to Table of Contents Annual Conference News We are still looking for At-Large members! 5K Walk/Run Child Care Registration Connect: Families, Kids & Campers Guest Speakers Back to Table of Contents Summer Options God's Backyard Pastors Joel Harbarger and Katie Steele saw Rev. Benji Sayer's News and Notes article about Camp Wesley a few weeks ago and thought - that's GREAT! But we also know that schedules are busy and maybe Benji's week is already booked on your calendar. If that is the case then we wanted to let you know that we will be Co-Pastors of the Week at Camp Otterbein in the beautiful Hocking Hills June 17-22. Joel and Katie met at camp years ago and Katie credits Joel's mentorship and friendship with helping her clarify her call to ministry. The lifelong friendship that we gained from the experience isn't too bad, either! What kind of lifelong friendships and "God Moments" are waiting for you at camp? You'll have to come find out! Camp Otterbein is also one of our three West Ohio United Methodist Camps. It is located in Logan, Ohio (about 2.5 hours from Cincinnati). While there campers will have the opportunity to participate in daily devotions, morning and evening worship, swim in the lake, cook over a campfire, climb the rock wall on either land or at the lake, hang out in the new hammock village and take a ride down the giant water slide at the end of the week! The week of June 17-22 is open to all ages, elementary, middle and high school campers. The elementary campers will participate in Adventure Camp; a week of thrilling activities and plenty of opportunities to discover Christ's love for you. The middle school and high school campers can choose between Adventure Camp or Mission Adventure; a week designed to discover what servant leadership means for you. Joel and Katie can't wait to see you at camp! Find out more about camp or register at www.westohiocamps.org Local Church & Ministry Partner Events Professional Pastoral Cherry Grove UMC, Red Bird
