LESSON ELEVEN Biblical Bible Foundations Class pre-study

BIBLE FOUNDATIONS LESSON NO. 11 END-TIME EVENTS In Lesson No. 10, "The Blessed Hope," we learned that Jesus could come at any moment to take His bride, the Church, up to heaven. This event, the Rapture of the Church, is the Coming of Christ that all faithful believers are looking and waiting for. At the time of the Rapture, the world will be unable to see Christ; however, at the Revelation (Greek: Apokalupsis) of Christ, "...every eye shall see him..." (Rev. 1:7). The Revelation is frequently referred to as the Second Coming of Christ, or His literal return to earth, which was promised in Acts 1:11. This return will occur at the time of the final battle of Armageddon at the end of the seven-year Tribulation. It will be immediately followed by God's judgment of the nations of the world for their sin and for their mistreatment of Israel (Matt. 25:31-46). The Rapture will occur prior to the Tribulation (the seven-year period when the antichrist will reign, and God will pour out His wrath on the ungodly), but the Revelation will occur later when Christ comes with His saints (Rev. 19:11-15) to end the Tribulation and begin His Millennial Kingdom (a 1,000-year reign of righteous rule on the earth). Again, at the Rapture, Christ will come in the air as the Bridegroom (Matt. 25:10) to take unto Himself His bride, the Church (Eph. 5:25-32). At the Revelation, Christ will come back to earth with His bride to rule the nations (Rev. 2:26, 27). While the seven-year Tribulation is occurring on earth, the church will be in heaven and at some point will hear these words: "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready...blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb..." (Rev. 19:7, 9). Let us encourage one another daily as we "...see the day approaching" (Heb. 10:25). MEMORY VERSE: Rev. 2:26 and Rev. 5:10 END-TIME SIGNS 1. The end will not come until (Matt. 24:14). III. THE RAPTURE The Church caught up into Heaven (covered fully last week) Rev. 3:10 Keep us from the hour of temptation which shall come upon all the world. Remember many verses studied last week such as God has not appointed us to wrath (I Thess. 5:9), saved from wrath (Rom. 5:9), delivered us from wrath to come ( I Thess. 1:9-10), that we may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, (Luke 21:36), Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: (Isa. 26:20-21a). As faithful Noah who escaped God s judgment by building an ark. God will judge rightly and not destroy the righteous with the wicked (Gen. 18:23-25), but we must not become vexed as Lot was in Sodom. Luke 21:34-36 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the son of man. Confusion comes over mid-tribulation saints missed the Rapture and others converted by three tribulation witness groups: 1 144,000 Jews (Rev. 7); 2 the 2 great witnesses (Rev. 11); 3 an angel (Rev. 14). God has to use these groups because the Church is gone to be with Christ. 2

IV. TWO MAJOR EVENTS FOR THE BRIDE OF CHRIST IN HEAVEN Bema Judgment Seat of Christ for rewards ( commendation, not condemnation ) II Cor. 5:10-11, I Cor. 3:9-16, I Cor. 4:1, 5 gold, silver and gems abide the fire while wood, hay and stubble are burnt up, but the man himself is saved. Matt. 16:27 he shall reward every man according to his works. Eph. 2:8-10 created unto good works God ordained that we should walk in them. Rom. 14:10-12 all stand before the judgment seat of Christ every one of us shall give account (Matt. 10:26, 12:36-37, Luke 12:2-3 all uncovered, nothing hidden, we give account for all our words) Rev. 22:12 I come and my reward is with me to give every man according as his work shall be. Many parables like Matt. 25 s parable of the talents and Luke 19 s the pounds ($), servants, occupy until I come. Multiply, be fruitful, the reward is ruling over cities during the Millennium Heb. 10:35-36 Cast not away your confidence, ye need patience to receive great reward Heb. 11:6 & 24-26 Have faith that He is a rewarder. Moses choosing rather to suffer the affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season He had respect unto the recompense of the reward. Be heavenly minded, not earthly minded. Gal. 6:6-9 What we sow, we reap let us not be weary in well doing. V. TRIBULATION 7 YEARS ON EARTH Daniel s 70 th Week tribulation divided into two parts Temple has been rebuilt (Rev. 11:2) Dan. 8:11 & 9:27 Antichrist in the midst of the week (7 years) causes the sacrifice to cease, abomination of desolation. 42 months and 1260 days = 3½ years used several places (Rev. 11:3, Rev. 12:6, and Rev. 13:5) Dan. 7:25 & Rev. 12:14 Time, times, and half a time. First Half of Tribulation Rise of the Antichrist Dan. 8:24-25 Destroys many by PEACE and deception. Dan. 11:21, 24 Through peace and flattery Dan. 9:27 and Isa. 28:15 & 18 Israel makes a (peace) covenant with Hell (an agreement with Hell). Dan. 7:7-28 & Rev. 17:9-18, Dan. 8:8-27, 9-12, 11:31 to end, Rev. 13:5 The Last Days 4 th beast is dreadful, terrible, exceedingly strong; the antichrist comes up as a little horn among 10 kings and he destroys three of them; he declares war on God and God s people. Christ will destroy him at his Second Coming. The antichrist is the Assyrian (Isa. 10:20-27, Isa. 14:24-27, 30:27-31, Micah 5:2-9) Rev. 6 Four horsemen, white (peace), red (war), black (famine and food control), pale (death). Rev. 6:8 controls one-fourth of the world, but other verses show a worldwide influence (Rev. 13:7). Dan. 8:23-25 & 11:36-39 He has satanic powers, he s fierce, understands dark sentences, his mighty power is not his own (it s from Satan), and he shall prosper for 3½ years, he magnifies himself. Second Half of Tribulation Great Tribulation Dan. 8:11 & 9:27 In the midst of tribulation, the sacrifice is ended at the Jewish temple and the abomination of desolation occurs. Rev. 13 The antichrist is in power, Satan worship, blasphemies, the false prophet does satanic miracles, there is war on the tribulation saints in Israel (Dan. 8:24-25), he deceives many, 666 control of all food and trade. Matt. 24:15-22 Great tribulation, abomination of desolation, Jews flee to the mountains in Jordan (Petra). Rev. 12 the woman (Israel) and the dragon (Satan). Flee to the wilderness, a place prepared of God to be fed 1,260 days. Satan s attempt to drown her fails. Ps. 83:4 Come let us cut them (Israel) off from being a nation that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. Isa. 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. Dan. 11:41 The antichrist enters into Israel; Jews escape to Edom, Moab, and Ammon (Jordan) (Isa. 11:14, 16;4, Ps. 60:9-12). Zech. 13:8 Two-thirds of Israel perishes before the Second Coming Revelation. 4

God s Judgment on Earth Revelation Chapter Reviews Rev. 7 144,000 Jews are sealed Rev. 8 & 9 Trumpet Judgments. 1 hail and fire destroy one-third of vegetation. 2 a great mountain hits the sea, killing one-third of sea life and ships. 3 the star called wormwood destroys one-third of the rivers. 4 one-third of sun, moon, and starlight is smitten. 5 the bottomless pit is opened, demonic scorpion locust-like beings torment man for five months. 6 the Euphrates River is dried up, allowing the Eastern Army of 200 million to storm across, killing much of mankind (Rev. 16:12). Rev. 10 The seven thunders are so bad that they are sealed from our understanding. Rev. 11 Two witnesses prophecy and miraculously witness for 3½ years, are killed and resurrected. Rev. 12 The woman and the dragon Israel flees to the wilderness. Rev. 13 The beast (the antichrist) and the false prophet have power for 3½ years to deceive the world 666 must be taken in order to buy food or you will die. Rev. 14 144,000 are taken to heaven and now an angel preaches to the world (God still is trying to reach fallen mankind). Rev. 15 & 16 The last plagues and vials. Rev. 17 & 18 Mystery Babylon Babylon is destroyed (Jer. 50 & 51, Isa. 13 & 47). [U.S.?!] The Campaigns Leading To Armageddon Daniel 11:40-45 Egypt, the trigger to Armageddon, will cease to exist for 40 years (Isa. 19:1-17, Ez. 29:1-14, Ez. 30:1-26) Gog and Magog Russia, with allies Iran, Turkey, Ethiopia, Libya, Germany. Five-sixths of their army will be destroyed. (Ez. 38 & 39) Mid-Tribulation The Antichrist overflows Eastern Europe and into the Middle East and Israel (Dan. 11:41-43, Isa. 28:18-19, Dan. 9:27, Matt. 24:15) Jerusalem, a cup of trembling (Zech 13:3 & 9) Tidings out of the East Kings of the East ( Rising Sun ), army of 200 million coming over the Euphrates. (Rev. 9:13-17, 16:2, Dan. 11:44). One-third of mankind is killed. Mystery Babylon and Tiding from the North (Rev. 17:16-18) Armageddon the antichrist s armies vs. the Messiah (See VI The Second Coming of Christ) 5

VI. THE REVELATION SECOND COMING OF CHRIST Acts 1:9-11 so come in like manner as you have seen him go. From the Mount of Olives, which shall split upon His return (Zech. 14:4) Rev. 1:7 He comes with clouds (with his saints). Every eye shall see him (TV). Rev. 19:11-16, 19-20 He comes on a white horse, to judge, to make war, a flame of fire, and on his head many crowns, a vesture dipped in blood, the Word of God, armies in heaven follow him upon white horses (Jude 1:14 The Lord comes with ten thousands of his saints), from his mouth is a sword (Word with which he smites the nations), he rules with a rod of iron, treading the winepress of the fierceness and the wrath of almighty God. The antichrist makes war against him. With his saints (not for his saints). Isa. 13:3-4, II Thess. 1:7-11, I Thess. 3:13 and 4:14, Col. 3:4, Zech. 14:5. Matt. 24:29-30 End of the tribulation, sun dark and moon no light, all tribes of earth mourn when see Son of God coming with power and great glory. Isa. 26:21 The Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity Armageddon slaughter and destruction Isa. 13:1-13, 34:1-6, 63:1-6, 66:15-24, Zeph. 3:8 Joel 2 The Lord cometh, the earth is in darkness, fire devoureth, horses and horsemen, the sun and moon are dark, DAY OF THE LORD (great and terrible), jealous for his land and pity his people, remove the northern army. Joel 3:2 Gather all nations and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat and will plead with them for my people and my heritage Israel whom they have scattered among the nations and parted (divided) my land. Zech. 12:1-11 God will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling and a burdensome stone. All people who attack Jerusalem will be cut in pieces, though all peoples of the earth be gathered against it. The Lord shall defend Jerusalem, destroy all that come against Jerusalem, pour out on the house of David and Jerusalem his grace, and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn. Bitterness, great mourning. Zech. 13:6-9 They shall ask, what are these wounds in thy hands?... I was wounded in the house of my friends (Jews). They smote the shepherd and the sheep were scattered (70 A.D. Roman dispersion), two-thirds of Jews will perish, one-third will be left to come through the fire refined. Zech. 14 The Lord cometh, gathers the nations, one-half of Jerusalem goes into captivity, then the Lord goes forth and fights, his feet stand upon the Mt. of Olives and it splits, God shall come and all saints with him, the Lord will be king over all the earth. 6

Dan. 7:9-14 The little horn and the beast are destroyed, the ancient of days is given dominion. Rev. 19:19-20 the beast and the kings with him war against Christ and his army. The beast and the false prophet are cast into the lake of fire (final judgment place). VII. THE MILLENNIUM 1,000 YEAR REIGN OF THE KING OF KINGS Rev. 20:1-4 The angel chains Satan and throws him into the bottomless pit. Matt. 6 The Lord s Prayer Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven ; theocracy, not democracy; God Government (man s governments always fail). Zech. 14:16-21 Year to year, the earth worships the king of kings and keeps the feast of tabernacles (no rain if they don t Egypt). Zech. 8:20-23 The Jews lead many people of the earth; seek the Lord in Jerusalem. Acts 17:31 He will judge the world in righteousness. Dan. 2:34 & 44 The cornerstone from heaven will crush all others and become a great mountain. Rev. 1:6 & 5:10 The Lord will make us kings and priests and we shall reign with Christ. Micah 4:1-4, 7-8 The Lord will establish his kingdom Mt. Zion in Jerusalem, people will flow into it, many nations shall come and go up to the Mt. of the Lord and he shall teach us his ways, the law shall go forth out of Zion, his Word from Jerusalem, he will judge among many peoples, and rebuke strong nations afar off, Jer. 3:14, 17 Jerusalem becomes the throne of the Lord, all nations shall gather unto it, neither shall they walk anymore after the imaginations of their evil heart, I am married unto you. Jer. 31:31-33 God makes a new covenant with Israel. He s the husband unto them, I will put my law in their inward hearts and write it in their hearts and will be their God and they shall be my people. Isa. 2:1-4 Last days, the Lord s house exalted, all nations flow into it, many people go to the Mount of the Lord, he will teach us his way, we will walk in his paths of the law and the Word, he will judge. They shall beat their swords into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks, and nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall learn war anymore. Isa. 7:14 & 9:6-7 A child is born of a virgin birth, the government shall be upon his shoulder, peace, kingdom, judgment, and justice shall be on earth. Isa. 11:1-9 Rod of Jesse, Branch, spirit of the Lord, wisdom and understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, fear of the Lord, with righteousness shall he judge the poor, smite the earth with the rod of his 7

mouth, the wolf shall dwell with the lamb and the leopard shall lie with the kid, the calf and the young lion, and the fatling together; a little kid shall lead them, the cow and the bear shall feed, the lion shall eat straw, the suckling child shall play on the hole of the asp, the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice s den, and they shall not hurt or destroy in all of my holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord. Israel is an Ensign of the people to it shall the Gentiles seek; and his Rest shall be glorious (the 7 th thousand years or the millennium is his rest or Sabbath millennium). Isa. 65:20 A child shall die 100 years old (age like the early earth). VIII. POST-MILLENNIAL EVENTS Rev. 20:7-10 Satan loosed, again deceives the nations (Gog and Magog), again leads a multitude to encompass the saints and Jerusalem, fire from God devours them, the devil is permanently cast into the lake of fire to be tormented day and night forever. Great White Throne Judgment Rev. 20:11-14 The dead stand before God, books are opened, people are judged by works, the Book of Life is opened to check for names, Death and Hell are cast into the lake of fire (Rev. 1:18 Jesus took the keys of Death and Hell into his possession). New Heavens and Earth Rev. 21& 22 No sea, the new Jerusalem comes down from God out of heaven, God dwells with them, wipes away all tears no more death, sorrow, crying or pain, makes all things new (all old failures gone), he that overcomes shall inherit all things, nothing can defile it, for all sinners are in the lake of fire. The New Jerusalem descends out of heaven. It is roughly 1,500 miles square (or cubed) with foundations and 240 high walls of pure gold and wondrous precious stones. There are 12 gates. God is the light of the city, with river and trees of life flowing throughout. Nothing will be in or can come in to defile it. Hallelujah! Isa. 34:4 The heavens are dissolved and rolled together as a scroll. Isa. 65:17 New heavens and earth. Isa. 66:22 Israel s seed and name shall remain forever. II Pet. 3:10-14 He shall come as a thief in the night, heaven shall pass away and the elements melt in the fervent heat, therefore what person ought we to be? looking for his coming.
