Obituary Norman Douglass Hill was born December 11, 1955 to Frederick Leory Hill and Norma Louise Hill in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the youngest of two children, and as a young man was often the backbone of his family. Norman s devotion to his family carried him through all endeavors and he led and supported them with love and joy. In recent years, he cared for his mother to ensure her good health and a long life. Norman was always loving and kind. From early on, he loved spending time with his family and always wanted to defend the underdog; he had to be constantly reminded that he could not save everyone. Norman was always a wanderer, even when he was too young to go very far away from home, and his big heart kept him constantly ready to take on the world. When the family moved to Chicago, Norman attended public school and graduated from Kenwood High School. It was there that he first studied computer science and began to develop his technical acumen; always good with his hands, he won several awards at various school fairs. He was a Boy Scout and attended Sunday School faithfully. Norman, his father, and brother enjoyed many happy days fishing and camping where they spent quality time bonding and developing a close and strong relationship. He enjoyed cooking and barbecuing at an early age, and would often join his father or mother in the kitchen or barbecue pit. His cousins often participated in the fun. Norman s love of cooking became legendary in the family as he was called upon to man the grill or contribute one of his delicious dishes! Norman studied Psychology at Howard University and Organizational Leadership at Mercer University. Norman s technical skills led to employment with Cox, Sears Communication, and AT&T where he was a respected employee and worked diligently to provide for his family. In 1985, Norman met the love of his life, Lori Dickerson. They were married on October 10, 1987, and were blessed with two children, Bakari and Amani. A man of God, Norman and his young family attended Mount Nebo Baptist Church for several years. They joined West Hunter Street Baptist Church where he put his talents to use in the Culinary Ministry and served as a Trustee. Norman transitioned on June 6, 2017 after fighting through the hardships of Heart Disease. He leaves to cherish his memory, a dearly loved and devoted wife, Lori Dickerson-Hill; a loving son, Bakari Hill (Chelsea); an adoring daughter, Amani Hill; his beloved mother, Norma Hill; his esteemed father-in-law, Benjamin Dickerson; his treasured aunts and uncles, Van Covington, Velma Covington-Bradley, Foster Covington, and Shirley Covington-Lightfoot; many other relatives, lifelong friends, and respected colleagues will continue to honor his memory. Norman s father and brother preceded him in death.

Blessed Assurance Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood. Refrain: This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long; This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long. Perfect submission, perfect delight, Visions of rapture now burst on my sight; Angels, descending, bring from above Echoes of mercy, whispers of love. Perfect submission, all is at rest, I in my Savior am happy and blest, Watching and waiting, looking above, Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
