THE WORLDVIEW SERIES A DEFENSE FOR AN ACTIVE, ENGAGING AND CULTURALLY RELEVANT FAITH MEDIA REFERENCE NUMBER WNX553 NOVEMBER 16, 2011 THE TITLE OF THE MESSAGE: THE CHRISTIAN AND HIS WORLDVIEW SUBJECT TOPICALLY REFERENCED UNDER: Maturity, Worldview, Apologetics, Discipleship Introduction to the Text: Acts 17:28 The Bible Honestly and Without Apology Defines mankind s roots, his dilemma, and his future like nothing else. Acts 17:26-27 NKJV He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, :27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; According to the World around Us Mankind universally displays the need to know God. There is evidence in every culture that has been discovered that there was, is a longing to connect with God. 1.) Mankind was created to reveal the glory of God The Biblical Worldview is This; Mankind Has Been Created by God and Displays The Evidence of God immediately we re brought to the question of - - why? why would God need us or why would God want us? The Shocker is this; God had no need of us nor did He want us for any reason of competition or satisfaction or happiness or loneliness.

We have been created by God to be living, breathing, reflectors of Who He is. developing a biblical worldview Isaiah 43:7 NKJV Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him. ( The observable creation shows us His ability to create. The spiritual creation shows us His infinite existence. But it s in His transcendent creation of man that He shows His personality and His reliability. ) MAN WAS CREATED TO REVEAL THE GLORY OF GOD 1a.) The trinitarian nature of God and man God is always previous. The God of the Bible reveals Himself in a Trinity of Persons. MAN WAS CREATED TO REVEAL THE GLORY OF GOD 1b.) The personification of God and man faith brings glory to God. Faith in Him honors Him. Faith in God reveals Him 1 Corinthians 10:31 NKJV Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Ephesians 1:11-12 NKJV In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, :12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

MAN WAS CREATED TO REVEAL THE GLORY OF GOD 1c.) The association of God and man God Admits to Us That He Has Been Reaching Out to Us When We Act Against What We Know To Be True, We are wading into dangerous waters. Psalm 139:13-14 NIV For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother s womb. :14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. These facts guarantee that man has a specific and intentional purpose for his existence. Psalm 14:1 ESV The fool says in his heart, There is no God. Romans 1:20-22 NKJV For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: :21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. :22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 2.) Mankind has an ordained purpose for God the ordained purpose is the expression of how we glorify God in and thru our lives. developing a biblical worldview John 17:1-5 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, :2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have

given Him. :3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. :4 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. :5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. MAN HAS AN ORDAINED PURPOSE FOR GOD 2a.) We exist to know God John 17:3 NKJV And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. this is eternal life (1) know You, the only true God, (2) and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. We ve Never Run Away From Our God. Those Who Have Gotten the Closest Get Even Closer MAN HAS AN ORDAINED PURPOSE FOR GOD 2b.) We exist to experience God Our God is John 10:10b ESV...I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (fullest or abundantly) John 14:6-9 NKJV Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. :7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him. :8 Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us. :9 Jesus said to him, Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; Isaiah 6:1-9 NKJV In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. :2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six

wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. :3 And one cried to another and said: Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory! :4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. :5 So I said: Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts. :6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. :7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said: Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged. :8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us? Then I said, Here am I! Send me. :9 And He said, Go, MAN HAS AN ORDAINED PURPOSE FOR GOD 2c.) We exist to share God for those of us with a Biblical worldview, knowing God and experience God produces a natural/supernatural desire to share God with others to tell others. But why? It s called Evangelism and its native to the heart of every child of God? Because We Have Been Designed to Share With Others. (just like God does) Koinonia in the Bible is the Intimate Fellowship between Christians and the Christian and His God. It s a friendship-family-relationship that is greater than a Psalm 89:1 NKJV I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations Psalm 16:11 NKJV You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore If true - is there any evidence for this? So then - what are we to do about this?

3.) Mankind is an eternal creation by God MAN IS AN ETERNAL CREATION BY GOD Image tselem, tseh -lem; a resemblance; hence, a representative. Likeness dmuwth, dem-ooth ; a model, a similitude. That Is, Man will be someone who is similar to Us but not identical to Us. Someone who knows Us and represents Us in his existence. MAN IS AN ETERNAL CREATION BY GOD 3b.) Man has violated his own right developing a biblical worldview Genesis 1:26 NKJV Then God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; Even though the Bible teaches that Man was Created in the Image of God, Man now is a distant, fallen representation of what he once was. We Humans, created in the image of God, are presently distorted, marred and flawed representatives but not lost images!!! Mankind Knows Intuitively Something s Wrong Within Himself (It s This Intuitive Knowledge That Causes Us to Question God) Listen to the World s Foremost Evolutionist/Atheist is disapproval and anger at the God that doesn t Wikipedia Human evolution refers to the evolutionary history of the genus Homo, including the emergence of Homo sapiens as a distinct species and as a unique category of hominids ("great apes") and mammals. The study of human evolution uses many scientific disciplines, including physical anthropology, archaeology, linguistics and genetics. If true - is there any evidence for this? So then - what are we to do about this?

Romans 1:16-27 NKJV For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. :17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, The just shall live by faith. :18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, :19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. :20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, :21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. :22 Professing to be wise, they became fools......:23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. :24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, :25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. :26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. :27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. MAN IS AN ETERNAL CREATION BY GOD 3c.) Man is searching for the way home and here are a few arguments as to why you should consider the same. (1) the moral aspect of man: we have an internal barometer of conscience that warns us of what is right or wrong. Even though a child must be taught what is right, that child knows the guilt and conviction of what is wrong even before receiving instruction. (2) the spiritual aspect of man: we possess not only a longing for spiritual things but we naturally find ourselves relating to the supernatural / spirit realm of or beings. man universally considers his spirituality.

(3) the intellectual aspect of man: we uniquely are born with all the capacities to reason, argue, determine, postulate, design, create, develop, purpose, conclude, imagine... our very actions in thought and concept tells of all of the same belonging to the Person of God in perfection. (4) the physical aspect of man: each of us has been physically predetermined by the DNA code. The complexity and utility of mankind is so near to perfect that it boggles the most brilliant minds. The specific and appropriate physical design and application of the male body is exact. The specific and appropriate physical design and application of the female body is equally exact they being the same yet different. (5) the relational aspect of man: we are social creations that develop and mature through relationships. We have proven by our emotional and relational deficiency s that we seek acceptance and approval. Yet in every relationship there is still the need to experience an even deeper relationship. It is that awareness that leads us to seeking after God. Can You Say Today That You Personally Know Jesus Christ as Lord And His Salvation? End of Study By Jack D. Hibbs, November 16, 2011
