A Message from our Pastoral Team This past week, Bishop Cunningham sent out a letter to all in the diocese regarding diocesan standards for Sunday Mass Schedules. I would like to review that letter and see how we as linked parishes and as part of a PCA have followed those standards. In this letter, Bishop Cunningham says that the basis of these norms is that more of our pastors are being asked to assume leadership of two or more parishes. This change automatically places more baptisms, weddings, funerals, hospital visitations and meetings upon one priest. Deacons and trained laity can be of great assistance, but the pastor finds himself stretched to meet new responsibilities and parishioner expectations. He continues new pastoral alignments usually involve changes in the Sunday mass Schedule. Fortunately, in our linked parishes and in our PCA, we have made some of those changes over the past few years. At the present time, we do fall within the norms that the Bishop has promulgated. For example In linked parishes one evening vigil mass and no more than two masses per parish on Sunday. This is the case with Ss. Cyril and Methodius and Holy Trinity. There are exceptions because of the size of the parish for example St. James which has three Sunday morning masses. Our parishes have made those hard decisions and in conjunction with our PCA as well especially with the changes made to the holy day schedule in our PCA. We realize that we need to continue to work together as a PCA as we move forward. We have discussed Youth Ministry for our PCA and the Office of Youth Ministry in the diocese has offered us a model so we can more effectively reach our young people. We hope to have this in place by the fall. The PCA Committee, made up of parish leadership from all five parishes, will look at other areas where we can collaborate. More information will be forthcoming in the coming year. Our Vacation Bible School will be a PCA event this year and will be offered at St. James. This will allow all five parishes to work together to provide a very exciting program for our young children as well as involve older children and youth to assist with the program. These are challenging times but I am sure that we can face these times with confidence in knowing that the Lord is always with us and will give us what we need to continue to grow and be responsive to whatever the Lord is calling us to be and to do as Communities of life, faith and action. Thank you for your support and for all you do for our parishes in promoting the mission of the church.

Our dads help us understand God as Father in the way they love, protect, teach, discipline, and spend time with us. What an awesome responsibility, to be the window through which children Alleviating Human Suffering Please join us in welcoming Fr. James Kariuki (Priest from kenya, East Africa) who will be visiting our parish in the month of June. Fr. James Kariuki is a diocesan priest from the diocese of Nakuru. Presently, the diocese of Nakuru is involved in pastoral care and promoting human development activities to a Catholic population of approximately 650,000 in the counties of Nakuru and Baringo. In the Northern enclaves of Baringo and East Pokot, drought is ravaging thousands and dangerously leaving many more to be dependent on food aid. There are reports of human and livestock deaths because of acute food shortage. There is also an increased migration of pastoralist communities due to depletion of pasture and water for livestock. This situation has sparked off conflict over dwindling pasture and water resources. School drop-outs have increased significantly with kids abandoning learning to become migrant herders. In most of the parishes, priests and nuns are serving hundreds of families with the much-needed food, water and medical supplies.
