INTRODUCTORY RITES PRELUDE: Nimrod from Enigma Variations HYMN: Elgar 10:00 Faith of Our Fathers 520 Other Masses To Jesus Christ Our King 800 PENITENTIAL ACT: ( I confess ) page 15 KYRIE: Mass of the Sacred Heart 141 GLORIA: Roman Missal Chant 125 COLLECT Almighty ever-living God, whose will is to restore all things in your beloved Son, the King of the universe, grant, we pray, that the whole creation, set free from salvery, may render your majesty service, and ceaselessly proclaim your praise. Through our Lord Jesus Christ... LITURGY OF THE WORD FIRST READING Daniel 7:13-14 As the visions during the night continued, I saw one like a Son of man coming, on the clouds of heaven; when he reached the Ancient One and was presented before him, the one like a Son of man received dominion, glory, and kingship; all peoples, nations, and languages serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, his kingship shall not be destroyed. RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 93:1, 1-2, 5 The LORD is king, in splendor robed; robed is the LORD and girt about with strength. And he has made the world firm, not to be moved. Your throne stands firm from of old; from everlasting you are, O LORD. Your decrees are worthy of trust indeed; holiness befits your house, O LORD, for length of days. SECOND READING Revelation 1:5-8 Jesus Christ is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, who has made us into a kingdom, priests for his God and Father, to him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen. Behold, he is coming amid the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him. All the peoples of the earth will lament him. Yes. Amen. I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, the one who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty. GOSPEL ACCLAMATION: Alleluia 223 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is to come! (Mark 11:9, 10) GOSPEL John 18:33-37 Pilate said to Jesus, Are you the King of the Jews? Jesus answered, Do you say this on your own or have others told you about me? Pilate answered, I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me. What have you done? Jesus answered, My kingdom does not belong to this world. If my kingdom did belong to this world, my attendants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here. So Pilate said to him, Then you are a king? Jesus answered, You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice. HOMILY PROFESSION OF FAITH: 10:00 Apostles Creed Inside back cover Other Masses Nicene Creed page 27

Banns of Marriage II Jaimie D Amato and Kevin Mulvey Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home is holding its annual Sweater/ Hoodie/Sweatshirts drive. With the colder weather upon us, there are many people in our community who are in need of warmer clothing. They will be collecting new and gently used sweaters in all sizes as well as hoodies and sweatshirts. All donations will be sent to St. John s Outreach Program and Haven from Hunger here in Peabody. Articles can be dropped off in the foyer of the funeral home at 82 Lynn St. or in the foyer of the main entrance of Peabody City Hall until December 14, 2018. Thank You. NOTICE TO LECTORS Our 2019 work books are in the Sacristy to be picked up by all our lectors. Please be sure to pick up yours. It is important to prepare before the Sunday readings. Good readers and psalmists understand what they are reading and can convey it well. Pope Francis explained they need to be prepared by reading over the text before Mass. When someone reads well, not distorting the words, this helps to create a climate of receptive silence, which is important, because it is not enough to hear with the ears, without receiving in the heart the seed of the divine Word, allowing it to bear fruit.

Parish Articles ST. ADELAIDE S STEWARDSHIP Our Collection for the weekend of November 18 amounted to $7170. Second Collection for Retired Religious Sisters amounted to $1732. Our Maintenance and Repair collection amounted to $4956. Thank you for your continued stewardship to our parish. WITH THE WORLD December 2, 2018 First Sunday in Advent I will make a just shoot spring up for David; he shall do what is right and just in the land. Jeremiah 33:15 Mother Teresa told of a time she came down with a terrible fever, becoming delirious. She had a vision of being at heaven s gate, telling St. Peter she was ready for heaven. St. Peter refused to let her in. When Mother Teresa asked why, Peter replied: Because there are no slums in heaven. According to Jeremiah, this Advent time of waiting calls us to do something. In the same way, Peter turned Mother Teresa away from heaven s gates because there was still work for her to do on earth. The same is true for us. Advent reminds us we live in an imperfect, and sometimes chaotic, world. On earth nations will be in dismay (Luke 21:25). Our vocation as disciples calls us to make Advent more about earth than heaven. Like Peter in Mother Teresa s vision, we remind ourselves, in our waiting, that there is work to do. The poet Denise Levertov writes: The world is not with us enough. advent calls us to be with the world enough, especially with the poor, with those we differ, and with the suffering earth. DAILY PRACTICE: Make an Advent resolution to be with the world; like Mother Teresa and Jeremiah, do something For others that is right and just. ADVENT PRAYER : Beckoning God, nudge me into the world. Strengthen me to respond to chaos with goodness. Janet Schaeffler, OP - Twenty-third publications PARISH NURSES NOTES Hello parishioners, I will be having a little show and tell soon about how to access and use our AED (Automatic External Defibrillator).
