Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church As a parish of the Catholic Diocese of Charleston, Our Lady of Grace seeks to know and share God s Word, live as a community of Christian disciples, devoutly celebrate the Holy and other sacraments, provide a prayerful environment for all people, and serve the poor and those in need in Christ s Name. Happy Sunday, Team Grace! From Father Kirby This weekend, the Lord arrives in Jerusalem. The journey has been recounted through several chapters in Mark s Gospel. Now, he has arrived. Now, the work of salvaeon will reach its culminaeon. As the Lord enters the Holy City, he goes to the Temple. In the Temple, he praises the holy widow. She manifests a profound trust in God through her generosity. She sacrificially gives her mite, the financial means of her sustenance. The Lord praises her, even as he admonishes the wealthy and their calculated giving. The example of the widow is a strong challenge to each of us. How much do we trust the Lord? How generous are we? This weekend, our naeon observes Veterans Day. This is a Eme for us to pause as a country, turn to our neighbors who have served in our Armed Forces and express our graetude for their service. To all our veterans, Team Grace profoundly thanks you! A quick note about the office. Recently, I ve received a couple of leters without return addresses. As a reminder, such leters are not read. They go immediately to the shredder. Please don t waste your Eme on such leters. I m willing and happy to meet, or exchange emails or leters with addresses, with anyone to discuss any mater at any Eme. This past week, two missionaries arrived at the parish. Kevin Murphy and John Paul Boehling are Americans who have been serving in our Church s foreign missions through the Comunita Cenacolo, an Italian-based Order of the universal Church. Kevin and John Paul are with us as they discern the next step in their lives. While here, they will be serving as Co-Assistants to Ryan Kiniry (our Director of Campus FaciliEes) and assiseng with various maintenance and landscaping projects. The two missionaries are being hosted by a family in the parish unel they establish their own residence in the area. Welcome, Kevin and John Paul! It was an honor this past Friday to atend and offer the opening prayer for the Marine Banquet. Thank you to our parishioners who facilitated this invitaeon. Happy Birthday to our noble Marine Corp! This coming Wednesday (November 14), we once again bid farewell to a founder of our parish. A Funeral for Jim Adams will be celebrated at 12 Noon. As many of you know, Jim and his widow Dolores have been involved in the parish since its beginning. We ask God to grant Jim peace and to give consolaeon to his family. More updates next week. Let s pray for one another! Father Jeffrey Kirby Twitter/fatherkirby frkirby@gracewepray.org
