Elementary Script Need to Know Trust is Being Confident in God s Power! I m happy everyone is here for this week of! We ve been learning so much about busting fears. In my honest opinion, I think all of you are going to be certified fear busters before long. We re going to bust some fears today, but first, let s sing our song! Everyone stand up and count it down with me. Ready? 3 2 1 FIRE: FB_ES_LG_Song_Fearless AUTO ADVANCE: FB_ES_LG_Logo w/ Teaching Music LIGHTS AT 100% Worship leader(s) exit. LIGHTS DOWN FIRE: FB_ES_LG_Opener WORSHIP LEADER Last week, we learned that we can bust fear with trust. Today, we are going to talk more about what trust actually is. When we trust God, it means that we are being confident in his power. I know Moe and Nic have some fears to bust today, so let s head to the lab and see what they re up to! I want everyone to count it down with me as loud as you can! 3 2 1 ACTION! AUTO ADVANCE: FB_ES_LG_Logo w/ Acting Music LIGHTS AT 100% ACT ONE: How Do You Bust Germs? and enter. (As if continuing conversation) Moe, I promise! I m telling you the truth! Ok. It always makes me nervous to buy new hair gel. It s such a risk! What if the company forgot to put ONE ingredient in that bottle? My hair could be a disaster! Page 2 of 9

(Not getting the big deal) Moe, I m telling you. Your hair doesn t look any different. It looks the same as every other day. (Relieved) Whew. Ok, then I guess this bottle is good. (Looking at Nic s hair) You know, Nic, you re welcome to borrow my hair gel any time. Why would I need to borrow your gel? My hair is fine. (Kind of judging) Suuuuuuure it is. Just know that I m only a phone call away. (Getting defensive) Alright now, let s just get to fear busting and stop talking about hairstyles. Ok let s see if anyone sent us any emails while we were gone. (Goes to computer, pretends to click) Oh we do have one! Let s see what it says! (Pretends to click) (Reading the email out loud) Hey! My name is Sonya and I m so afraid of ALL germs. You can get so sick from touching germs, eating germs, or even looking at germs. My twin sister Tonya doesn t have a problem with germs and sometimes even eats food off the floor if it s been there for less than five seconds!, write back if you can help me bust this fear! Wooooooooow. That s an intense fear! Germs? Where do we even start? We ll start by busting the five second rule! Nic, I need you to get a variety of foods anything you can find in the fridge! I ll stay here and get everything else set up! Should I be concerned about this? ACT TWO: Five Second Rule (Already sifting through container of supplies) Maaaaaaaybe. Just go get the food! Page 3 of 9

exits. While offstage, he/she grabs a cookie, chicken nugget, piece of candy, pack of pop tarts, and slice of lunch meat. (cont d) (Still looking through container of supplies) Ok, where did I put that thing? (Finding large plastic plate/tray) Here it is! (Looking through container of supplies) Hmmm what can I put it on top of? (Pulling out calculator) I knew this thing would come in handy someday! (Set calculator on lab table and then large plastic plate/tray on top of it) Now all I have to do is hook this baby up to my computer and we re good to go! (Connects USB Cord to computer and calculator) enters, carrying supplies. Alright I raided the fridge. What should I do with this food? I ve been working on this Supersonic Weight Instrument Measurer, or SWIM for short. We can place these items on the SWIM and it will weigh them to the hundred thousandth of an ounce. We ll do this before and after the food has been on the floor for five seconds. Just to be clear, we aren t EATING this food are we? (Casually) Only if you want to. (Makes a grossed out face) So how are we supposed to test the five second rule? First, we need to weigh each food item before it goes on the floor. Go ahead and put the food on the tray. (Putting each food item on the tray) Are you getting the reading on your computer? Yep! I got the weight. Now, let s put all that food on the floor. I ll time for five seconds. When I say GO, pick up the food items and put them on the scale to test the five second rule. (Putting one of each food item on the floor) Ready when you are! (Clicking on computer) Alright (Count to five in head) GO! Page 4 of 9

(Picking food up and placing on tray) Is there any change? The data is collecting. Let s take a look at what we found. FIRE: FB_ES_LG_Weight Spreadsheet w/ Acting Music (cont d) From our results, there isn t any difference in the weight of the food after it s been on the ground for five seconds. Alright! Sonya s fear is totally busted? Yeah, germs sometimes make you sick, but we can trust that God is bigger and more powerful than those little germs. And since God has given each of us a spirit of power, we don t have to be fearful! Great! Then let s say Fear BUSTED! (Hits Fear Busted Button) FIRE: FB_ES_LG_FearBUSTED w/ SFX AUTO ADVANCE: FB_ES_LG_Logo w/ Acting Music (cont d) So what should we do with this food? Oh, it s for our mid-busting snack! (Puts all the ingredients inside the pop tarts and takes a bite, talks with mouth full) You wanna bite? (Grossed out by the sandwich ) Uhhhhhh no thanks. Really. You keep that for yourself. ACT THREE: Bible Story Video I guess all that s left now is to email Sonya back and tell her that her fear was busted! Let s bust another fear! How about we check in with the field team and see what fears they re busting today? Great idea, then you ll have time to finish that snack! (Pretend to click on computer) Page 5 of 9

LIGHTS DOWN FIRE: FB_ES_Wk6_LG_Bible Story Video Hi guys, we re here in the warehouse. We are in quite the conundrum. Ok ok, here is how this happened. A few days ago we were sent this letter: Hey. My name is Emilio and I had a plant at my house that I was supposed to take care of. We went on vacation for a week and left the plant inside. When we got home, the plant had died. Ever since then, I ve been afraid of my cat Tiger dying. Or even ME dying! Can you help me bust this fear? So we went straight to work! We figured the best way to bust the fear of death was to see what we could do to keep the plant from dying. We did research and then came up 5 different ways to keep the plant alive: THE PROFESSOR 1. Exercise. Looks like this plant was on the treadmill too long 2. Humor. Supposedly laughter is the best medicine, apparently not. 3. Friendship. I guess the plant didn't want a new BFF 4. Good food. An apple a day keeps the Doctor away, so we thought 22 wouldn t hurt. Boy were we wrong! 5. And our last effort...we took a healthy plant and tried to attach it to this dead one, we call it a Transplant. It didn t work. This is crazy, it s the first time in history that we have NOT been able to bust a fear. You know what that means, don t you? Is there any other way? THE PROFESSOR Afraid not. Protocol says that if we absolutely cannot bust a fear, we must break the glass of the red emergency box and follow the instructions inside. Please retrieve the box. Alright guys, put on your safety goggles and break the glass. Page 6 of 9

THE PROFESSOR If we can t bust a fear at LEAST we can bust this glass. Hmmm, it s a piece of paper. Curious, let me inspect it. THE PROFESSOR A piece of paper!!???? Is it a recipe? A phone number? A crossword puzzle? No it says Revelation chapters 1:21-22. Here enter this information into our database and see what comes up. It's a Bible story, maybe this can help us bust the fear of death! Let s check it out. JOHN My name is John and Jesus and I were really great friends. After Jesus died and went to live in heaven, I traveled around telling everyone about all of the cool things He had done. To stop me from talking about Jesus, the king, sent me to this island. I was all alone, just me and the bees and the coconut trees (one falls & hits him on the head) then suddenly, I wasn t alone anymore! The Lord spoke to me in a vision. I heard a very familiar voice--i spun around and to my surprise--it was Jesus! He was about to show me how powerful God is. He told me to write to you about all the things He was about to show me! As soon as I looked up, there was a door to heaven and it was opening! I couldn t believe my eyes when I saw a kingdom where the gates were made of giant pearls and the streets were paved with the shiniest gold! There was a beautiful river that flowed throughout the kingdom and trees that had more fruit than they could hold. Man, I m getting hungry! There was nothing to make you cry, nothing to make you tired, and nothing bad to scare you. After Jesus showed me what Heaven was going to be like, I realized I don t need to be afraid, because I know exactly where I will go when I die! Heaven! Heaven has plenty of room for EVERYONE in God s family. And once we get there, we never have to leave, because we get to live there with God forever! Writing this down for everyone to hear made being on this island not so bad after all! We can know that no matter what happens, we can trust God and be confident that because of His power we have no reason to fear. Page 7 of 9

THE PROFESSOR I'm so excited God made this awesome place for us called Heaven and sent his son Jesus to make a way for us to go there! When we believe in Jesus, we don t need to have fear of death because in Heaven there is no sickness, pain, death OR fear, because God is more powerful than all of those things. THE PROFESSOR And because of that, we can be confident in God s power! I think we can safely tell Emilio that this fear of death is BUSTED!!! ALL AUTO ADVANCE: FB_ES_LG_Logo w/ Acting Music LIGHTS AT 100% exits. Wow! I ve always wondered what was in that emergency box. So the field team discovered something interesting today. There s no way we can bust the fear of death. Only Jesus can do that. Exactly. So we have to be confident in God s power that He can bust the fear of death; we can trust God! Nic, all this fear busting we did today probably made you work up an appetite. What do you say I whip you up one of my famous cookie, turkey, candy, chicken nugget, and pop tart sandwiches? (Disgusted) I think I would rather eat cat food than eat that sandwich. I ll take that as a yes! I ll meet you in the kitchen in five minutes! (To self) Yeah, I m so NOT doing that. Maybe I ll go home this way today. exits off the opposite side than. LIGHTS DOWN FIRE: FB_ES_LG_Logo w/ Teaching Music Page 8 of 9

LIGHTS AT 100% Worship leaders take stage. WORSHIP/WRAP UP WORSHIP LEADER Whew! I sure am glad Moe and Nic found Steve! How about you guys? (Yes!) A lot of things happened today, so let s review it all. What fears were busted today? (Fear of germs and death) Have any of you ever been afraid of one of those things? How did we bust these fears? (By being confident in God s power) Did God give us a spirit that is scared of everything? (No He gave us a spirit of power and love, NOT weakness and fear) Exactly right! We can trust in God s power. And when we ask Jesus to be the leader of our lives, God gives us His powerful spirit to live inside of us. Then, we don t have to be afraid! Even if we are afraid of something pretty serious, like death. We know that we can be confident in God s power! That reminds me of what we need to know today, so let s play a game that will lead us to what we Need to Know today. The professor will have three cups. Underneath one of these cups is a ball. Follow the cup with the ball and then try to guess where the ball is at the end! Ready? 3 2 1 GO!
