The Food Pantry Ministry will be collecting donations for IPS Eleanor Skillen School #34 food pantry. The school helps 25 families once a month with a box of food, which includes canned vegetables, cereal, pasta sauce & pasta, soup, toilet tissue, soap, peanut butter & jelly, eggs, milk and bread. The food pantry is supported by churches such as Resurrection, families at the school and community donations. Please consider donating any of the below items. Pasta and long grain rice continue to be donated to Second Helpings. Please place donated items on the white shelves outside Resurrection Hall. Thank you for your support of this most important ministry! Suggestions for November: Nov. 18: cereals, canned soups Nov. 25: peanut butter and jelly Every Week: pasta and long grain rice You are invited to experience Christmas Around the World, an intergenerational fellowship event, in Resurrection Hall during Discipleship Hour, Sunday, Dec. 2. Toilet Talks: Conversations Between a Mother and Daughter A Staged Reading, by Elizabeth Anh Thomson, will be held at Resurrection in rooms 5 and 6, Saturday, Dec. 8, from 1-3 p.m. Reading will begin at 1 p.m. with discussion after. We are excited for Deacon Julie and Andy as they embark on their new adventures in Florida. Deacon Julie's last Sunday will be December 2nd. We know that there are many people who are grateful for Deacon Julie and Andy's ministry at RLC and are looking for ways to show their appreciation. Here are just some of the ways that you can participate: The Council is collecting money for a gift of appreciation for Deacon Julie. If you would like to contribute, simply put a check in the offering with "Julie" in the memo line between now and December 2nd. You will be finding notecards and an explanation in your church mailbox. Please feel free to write Deacon Julie and Andy a personal note. These will be collected and presented to Julie during both services on December 2nd. Please join the Fellowship Team on December 2nd during Discipleship Hour for Christmas Around the World to learn about how different countries around the world celebrate Christmas. Andy and Deacon Julie will be staffing the Puerto Rico booth. There will also be a special place to leave good wishes and thanks for Deacon Julie and Andy as they take their "Bon Voyage". Finally, please join us for worship on December 2nd at 8:15AM and 10:45AM. In both services, we will include a "Thanksgiving for the Conclusion of a Call" for Deacon Julie as well as incorporating some of her favorite hymns into our worship. This is a great opportunity to celebrate both Deacon Julie and Andy's contributions to RLC through a shared worship experience. Thank you to all RLC disciples who are helping us celebrate the wonderful legacy that Deacon Julie and Andy leave at RLC. We hope that you can join us in wishing them well. Thanksgiving Eve Pie Feast: We will serve pie at 7:45 p.m. in Resurrection Hall following our Thanksgiving Eve worship service Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. If you are able to donate a pie (please pre-cut) or help clean up, please let us know on the connect card. 2. Donating to Community Meals is as easy as... PIE! As in past years, the Community Meals ministry will distribute pies and gift bags the Friday following Thanksgiving. You can make an extra pie for the Thanksgiving Eve Pie Feast and leave it in the fridge, buy a pie at the store and donate or drop off your leftover Thanksgiving pie on Friday and hang out with us for the Community Meal! In addition, we will be creating gift bags for our guests. These consist of assorted gift cards and small snack food items. People have had a lot of fun in past years assembling the bags and handing them out. You are welcome to join us! If you are willing to support, please reply on the connect card.
