National Youth Leadership Training- By: Jason Dombrowski Hi my name is Jason Dombrowski. I am on NYLT Staff and I would encourage all the members of the Order of the Arrow to come and learn about leadership with our NYLT staff! If you guys are First Class or above, a Venturer (Which you should be if you re in the OA) and 13 please come to NYLT! Tell your unit leader you must attend NYLT! NYLT will be at Camp Wilderness this summer. It is a great time and you will learn about the EDGE, EAR,ROPE, and many other acronyms that are useful for leadership in scouts and life. The NYLT course lasts for one week from June 11-17. You can sign up to participate here!

By: Cindy Van Tassel Scouting For Life 6 What do the words Scouting for Life mean to you? Are your thoughts that you joined the BSA as a Cub Scout, now you re a Boy Scout working on his merit badges to become an Eagle Scout, and some day you will be an adult leader? The progression of scouting in a person s life may have been your thought, but we want to spread the word and need your help about our meaning of Scouting for Life. Scouting for life is a service project of the Pa-Hin Lodge. We want to educate people about becoming an organ donor. We want to reach out to people everywhere, not just those involved in scouting to share the information about the need for organ donors. This is where we need help from you. We need a youth that is interested and willing to work with an adult advisor and chair this project for Pa-Hin Lodge-27. Did you know that more than 120,000 people (adults and children) nationally and more than 3,500 people in MN, ND and SD are waiting for a life saving organ transplant. More than 1 million people are in need of tissue transplants each year and nearly 50,000 have their vision restored through cornea transplants every year. Are you aware that 1 person can help save and heal up to 60 lives by being an organ donor? What organs can be donated you ask? Organs that can be donated include the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas and intestine. Tissues that can be donated are the eyes, skin, bone, heart values, veins, and connective tissue. You may think you don t know anyone that is or has been affected by donating an organ or anyone receiving an organ or tissue. I think you would be surprised by the number of people who have benefitted from someone giving selflessly by becoming an organ donator. Just ask someone if they know of anyone that has been a donor or a recipient of a donation. One of the scouts from my troop did receive a donation after injuring his leg following an OA event at Camp Wilderness. A man I worked with gave a kidney to his son. A local man after suffering a major heart attack had marked on his driver s license that he was an organ donor and because of this he was able to help 60 plus people. I know of many more examples I could give you. I am trying to inform you how important organ donation is. How important it is to make people aware of how they can become organ donators and that they need to make sure their family knows of their wishes. If you are interested in chairing this service committee for the Pa-Hin Lodge please contact Cindie Van Tassel or Larry Martin with your thoughts, questions and ideas. Cindie can be reached at 1-218-643-4374 or Larry at 1-701-400-7752. Thank you for your service to the Pa-Hin Lodge and scouting in your communities. Cindie Van Tassel

Cheifly Speaking By:Evan Schroeder 7 Brothers, Our Spring Conclaves are approaching fast and a wonderful opportunity is almost upon us. Conclaves provide the means by which our organization gains new members and perpetuates brotherhood. I have seen Scouts who are complete strangers, come together and through the shared life changing experience they have during the Ordeal become best friends and brothers. That is one of the greatest things and gifts we can give in the Order. I look forward to seeing each and everyone of you at Conclave! It is going to be a great time!
