Thank you. The Pope s Intention for November That the language of love and dialogue may always prevail over the language of conflict. Pope Francis also records a video each month, related to the prayer theme, which can be viewed online at http://apostleship ofprayer.org/the-pope-video

The Society of St Vincent de Paul The focus of our work at the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) is visiting and befriending people who may be lonely or in some form of poverty. They could be refugees, the elderly, the homeless, people in care homes or in their own homes. For the most part we are involved face to face with the people we help. This month we have made visits to care homes, two or three times a week; we have visited people in their own homes; volunteered to move paving slabs for a disabled person, given lifts to Church and we have helped with shopping. The Friday Chatter Cafe is open after a summer break and together with the CWL, we are preparing for a coffee morning in St Stephen's church in the High Street on 27 October. Material and practical assistance is ongoing and you could be part of this. If you want to know more, just give us a call on our helpline 07512 467971. St Nick s News We will be holding 'Tea and Tour' open mornings on 6 November, 14 November and 22 November at 9.15 am or 14 November at 6.00 pm for parents who have children entering Reception class in September 2019. Please contact Ali (abrocksom@stncs.uk) or call 01392 445403 ext 222 to book a place. APF Red Box Collection It is time for your Missio red boxes to be opened and counted, so if possible can you bring them to Mass on November 11. If you are unable to do so please give me (John Mitchelmore) a telephone call on 01392 757199 and I will be pleased to visit your home to collect them. The missions are always very grateful for the support of their box holders. Thank you. Mothers Prayers Mothers Prayers was launched in England in 1995. At that time two grandmothers, Veronica and her sister-in-law Sandra felt led by the Lord to pray in a special way for their children. There has been some interest shown in the setting up of a group here at Blessed Sacrament and a representative from Mothers Prayers will come to talk to us on Wednesday 21 November at 1.30pm in the St Richard Reynolds Centre. Anyone interested is also welcome to come along to find out more. 2019 International Mass at Sacred Heart change of date An International Mass will take place on Sunday 27 January 2019 at 11.00am at the Sacred Heart Church, followed by a meal at the Cardinal Newman Centre. Caritas Plymouth Pope Francis, since the beginning of his Papacy, has urged us to rediscover our essential mission to the world. That is, to look around us, and see the need and then put our faith into action. In response to this call the Diocese is launching Caritas Plymouth, a social action charity helping the most vulnerable in May 2019. A consultation event will be held on the structure and priorities of Caritas Plymouth on Saturday 1 December from 10.30 a.m. 3.30 p.m. at St Boniface College, Plymouth. Bishop Mark O Toole will be welcoming inspirational speakers from across England and there will plenty of opportunity to influence the work of Caritas Plymouth. Unfortunately, there is a limit of three participants from each parish. Please see Fr Jonathan if you would like to attend. The event is free and food and refreshments are provided. World Day of the Poor 2018 In his message for the second World Day of the Poor, to be celebrated on 18 November 2018, Pope Francis asks all of us, whatever our means or background, to rediscover and celebrate in a spirit of joy our capacity for togetherness, for example we could share lunch after the 10.30am Mass on 18 November in the St Richard Reynolds Centre if people are interested. On this day, may all of us feel that we are in debt to the poor, because, in hands outstretched to one another, a salvific encounter can take place to strengthen our faith, inspire our charity and enable our hope to advance securely on our path towards the Lord who is to come. Pope Francis Sisters Thank You Sisters Anna, Sheila and Stella wish to thank you very sincerely for your love and support shown through sympathy cards, Masses offered for the repose of the soul of Sister Guy-Marie, and for your presence at the Vigil and Funeral Mass. We appreciate your many gestures of love, compassion and concern at this sad time. May God bless each and every one. Fr Frank s Roof You may remember Fr Frank from St Michael s Kete Krachi, Ghana. The parish church to which he moved recently is in desperate need of repair. If you can offer any financial support please give your donation to the parish office and we will ensure it gets to him. And please keep him and his new parish in your prayers. CAFOD Pyramid Boxes We will be collecting pyramid boxes at all Masses on Sunday 18 November. If you do not have a box please consider taking one and collecting your loose change over the year. Boxes are emptied twice a year in May and November. Diocesan Service Team for Renewal Event Brother Johnson Sequeira, a lay Catholic leader from India with a powerful healing ministry, is visiting the UK on Thursday 29 November, he will be in Torquay & Exeter and you will be welcome at either event.
