Ward Nelson Today's Program Youth Exhchange Student Carly Bowles During my Junior year at Estes Park High School I began to itch for a new adventure, a way to push myself, and give back to others. After being involved in the interact club, becoming a Rotary Exchange student seemed to be the perfect fit. I had three years of Spanish classes in school which where a great bases to start with in Argentina. I lived with two families and in two towns during my exchange. One in a town called Ituzaingó and the other San Antonio de Padua both of these places are located in Grand Buenos Aires just outside of the capital, Buenos Aires. Two of my very favorite things were the three week bus trip around northern Argentina and going to RYLA camp. This exchange has changed and enriched my life in ways I never imagined. I believe if every young adult spent time abroad it would open so many doors of peace and understanding around the world. Carly will be giving us a presentation of her adventure in Argentina this past year. Be sure to come this week to see the great impact Rotary is having on our community youth. site. Estes Park's Shred-a-thon and Electronic Recycle Day is on Oct. 6th from 9am-1pm. Please think about being involved with this great event as Rotary will be sponsoring and working the shred 1 of 6 8/20/12 10:05 AM

Meeting Notes The regular weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Estes Park was called to order promptly by President Sumey just after 12 Noon on this pleasant August 2 of 6 8/20/12 10:05 AM

Website Sponsors Thursday, following a special welcome as we entered by Greeter Dana Fritz. Madison Casey led our group invocation, and Dave Evans then led us in song and the Pledge of Allegance. Next in our usual meeting format was introduction of visitors and guests by Annie Slack. Pete then reminded us of future meetings of importance, including the Fund Development Committee on August 21st, and the Rotary Foundation Board on August 27th. Please visit our Sponsors. Click here to place your ad The special events being planned and promoted by our members were announced next, and included the following, plus the announcements of note by their sponsors or chairpersons: A Special 5th Thursday Event is planned by Dana Fritz as a BYOB House Party at the home of Jane and Jay Harroff, all are welcome. Don Widrig was very pleased to announce the success of the first time ever Colorado Peach Sale which will bring somewhere between $ 900 and a cool Grand to our future fund raising efforts. Youth Exchange Chair Mark Richards is still seeking a Host Family for the second period in the schedule of our new exchange student. Don Widrig ( again ) is also working on a joint EP Rotary benefit program with the Rocky Mountain Opry group, set for September 18th. JR reported that the regular weekly raffle will now be switched from baseball ( guess Wayne Andersen won it all last week ), and the new game will be football which seems timely with the weather finally beginning to cool just a little bit! We tried once again to add a personalized touch with a rousing rendition to our traditional Welcome Song, and President Pete then called for any Happy Money. Mrs. Johanna Hocker, wife of our former member Jim Hocker, said she was thrilled to come to our meeting and recall her good times with Rotary before Jim s passing. Annie Slack informed us of her pleasure and satisfaction with the successful Healing Waters Concert program. Kerry Hill was pleased to confirm the addition of a new Internal Medicine MD at the Rocky Mountain Medical Center. Rod Ludlum was especially happy to have our good member Bill Lodge at his table once again and Jim Godbolt was also very happy to have had visiting family from Norway, even though his small Good Sam apartment could have been just a bit larger for their visit! A brief passing mention was made regarding Clark Lupton s recent medical procedure, but it was a total success and merits no further comment. The weekly program was an informative presentation by Mr. Jon Nicholas titled The Buck Starts Here, a review of his Business Services Coordination efforts in cooperation with our Estes Valley Library. Our program concluded at l:00 PM with the Four Way Rotary Test. Next Week Prayer: Lee Lasson Song And Pledge: Scott Thompson Guest Intro: Jack Vaughan 3 of 6 8/20/12 10:05 AM
