May 17, 015 11:00 a.m. We welcome you to worship with us this morning, as we gather in community to draw closer to God, made known in Christ. We pray you will know the presence of the Lord, through our worship, and through the work of the Spirit. We invite you to take these moments before worship to calm your hearts and minds, and open yourself to the quiet stillness of the presence of God! GOD GATHERS THE PEOPLE Prelude Sandra Perkins & Gail Rollings Chiming of the Hour Welcome & Announcements Passing of the Peace Jerry Bond Rev. Jason Cashing Sharing of Joys & Concerns

Call to Worship One: Happy are those who do not ridicule and scoff; All: Happy are those who delight in God s teachings. One: Let us seek to meditate on God s teachings day and night. All: Let us seek to be like trees planted by streams of water; One: In this way we can yield the fruit of the Spirit. All: In this way, we will not wither, but yield rich fruit. *Opening Hymn #459 - O Word of God Incarnate Prayer of Confession (in unison) Almighty God, though you call us to delight in your teachings, we can become cynical and full of doubt. Do not judge us, we pray, but heal us and restore us to you. Guard us and protect us from evil, and sanctify us in truth; in Jesus name we pray. Amen. (A Moment of Silent Confession) Promise of God s Forgiveness One: Hear the good news of the gospel: All: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven, healed, and made whole. One: Know that we have been forgiven, and be at peace! All: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. Amen! *Congregational Response (Hymn #581) The Giving of our Tithes, Gifts, & Selves to God Offertory Congregational Response (Hymn #606) *Prayer of Dedication WE ENCOUNTER GOD S WORD Time for Children Junior Sermon Valerie Harsh (Children ages 3 1 st Grade are invited to Junior Church following the anthem; older youth may take a Worship Board ) Choral Anthem Crown Him with Many Crowns

Scripture Readings 1 st Reading: Acts 1:15-17, 1-6 p885 nd Reading: John 17:6-19 p879 Sermon Of the Word Rev. Jason Cashing *Reflective Hymn #719 Come, Labor On WE RESPOND TO GOD S WORD *We Affirm Our Faith We undoubtedly believe, since it was impossible that the sorrows of death should retain in bondage the Author of Life, that our Lord Jesus crucified, dead, and buried, who descended into hell, did rise again for our justification, and the destruction of him who was the author of death, and brought life again to us who were subject to death and its bondage. We know that his resurrection was confirmed by the testimony of his enemies, and by the resurrection of the dead, whose sepulchers did open, and they did rise and appear to many within the city of Jerusalem. It was also confirmed by the testimony of his angels, and by the sense and judgment of his apostles and of others, who had conversation, and did eat and drink with him after his resurrection. [from The Scots Confession] Prayers of the People & Lord s Prayer One: Lord, in your mercy, All: Hear our prayers. *Departing Hymn #450 Be Thou My Vision *Blessing One: We have been blessed! All: We have met for divine worship, as God s people. One: We have been blessed! All: Our sins have truly been forgiven. One: We have been blessed! All: We go out into the world as the body of Christ, bearing the good news of the gospel. We are blessed, indeed. Amen! *Pastoral Benediction *Choral Benediction & Postlude
