Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious! All: Say to God, How awesome are your deeds! Minister: So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you. All: All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing praise to your name. H YMNS* Let All Things Now Living ASH GROVE Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving, To God the creator triumphantly raise. Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us, Who guides us and leads to the end of our days. God's banners are o'er us, His light goes before us, A pillar of fire shining forth in the night. Till shadows have vanished and darkness is banished As forward we travel from light into light. His law he enforces, the stars in their courses And sun in its orbit obediently shine; The hills and the mountains, the rivers and fountains, The deeps of the ocean proclaim him divine. We too should be voicing our love and rejoicing; With glad adoration a song let us raise, Till all things now living unite in thanksgiving: To God in the highest, hosanna and praise! We Praise You, O God, Our Redeemer, Creator KREMSER We praise you, O God, our Redeemer, Creator; In grateful devotion our tribute we bring. We lay it before you, we kneel and adore you; We bless your holy name, glad praises we sing. We worship you, God of our fathers, we bless you; Through trial and tempest our guide you have been. When perils over take us, you will not forsake us, And with your help, O Lord, our struggles we win. With voices united our praises we offer, And gladly our songs of thanksgiving we raise. With you, Lord, beside us, your strong arm will guide us. To you, our great Redeemer, forever be praise. PRAYER OF I NVOCATION AND ADORATION* Rev. Ronnie Rowe
CONFESSION OF FAITH from 2 Peter 3 Minister: Dear friends, I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles. First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. All: They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." Minister: But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. All: By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. Minister: But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. All: But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. SONG OF PRAISE The Lord s My Shepherd BROTHER JAMES AIRE The Lord s my shepherd, I ll not want; he makes me down to lie, In pastures green; he leadeth me the quiet waters by, He leadeth me, He leadeth me the quiet waters by. My soul he doth restore again and me to walk doth make, Within the paths of righteousness, e en for his own name s sake, Within the paths of righteousness, e en for his own name s sake. Yea, though I walk through death s dark vale, yet will I fear no ill, For thou art with me, and thy rod and staff me comfort still, For thou art with me, and thy rod and staff me comfort still. Goodness and mercy all my life shall surely follow me, And in God s house for evermore my dwelling-place shall be, And in God s house for evermore my dwelling-place shall be. PUBLIC CONFESSION OF SIN Minister: Let us confess our sins before our righteous and holy God. People: We confess to You, O God, that we have sinned against heaven in Your sight, and are not worthy to be called Your children. We have forgotten You, and have broken Your holy laws. We have been wayward and disobedient. We have been selfish and unkind. For the sake of Your dear Son, our Savior, we beg You to pardon our sins, to make clean our hearts, and to grant us Your peace. PRIVATE CONFESSION OF SIN ASSURANCE OF PARDON Psalm 32:5 I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide. I said, I will confess my transgression to the Lord. And You did forgive the guilt of my sin. two
MUSICAL OFFERING SCRIPTURE READING* Hebrews 10.23-39 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. 26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge his people." 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. 32 But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, 33 sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. 34 For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. 35 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. 37 For, Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay; 38 but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.
