2015-2016 School Calendar Theme of the Year: Responsibility

MPTO Senior Banquet Abdullah ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, Every one of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock. The leader of people is a guardian and is responsible for his subjects. A man is the guardian of his family and he is responsible for them. A woman is the guardian of her husband s home and his children and she is responsible for them. The servant of a man is a guardian of the property of his master and he is responsible for it. Surely, every one of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock.

Asalaamu Alaikum IAA, I would like to begin by congratulating all the IAA community on the start of the new school year for 2015-2016. I am looking forward to a great year, Insha Allah, with the help of Allah followed by the teachers and staff. I am proud of our IAA Alumni and happy to have the UAB MSA president as our IAA Alumni. In fact, all of our alumni are youth leaders and have been exceptional in helping the Muslim community. For example, I was given an excellent idea by one of our alumni to divide the morning assembly into different levels in order to better cover more appropriate topics with different grade groups, while focusing daily on the names and attributes of Allah. The theme of the year is responsibility. Therefore, we seek to teach all IAA students the meaning behind responsibility and how to be responsible. We, as Muslims, have several responsibilities and duties to fulfill in our life. These responsibilities are directed towards Allah, one's own self, people, nature and other creatures. Fulfilling these responsibilities can lead to the formation of a well-established individual, family, and eventually a society where peace and tranquility prevail and where the utmost purpose (the pleasure of Allah) is obtained. Unlike last year, we now have a new theme each month, rather than theme of the week. IAA has started offering two AP classes this year, Calculus and Chemistry, giving our students the best education available to help attain their full academic potential. Last year was the first year in which students took the ACT Aspire and, Alhamdulillah; we excelled with scores above average. The ACT results for the high school students show an outstanding above average score in all fields I would like to send out a special thanks to the IAA board of directors, along with the IAA MPTO, for starting this year with enthusiasm. I Ask Allah to help them in fulfilling their objectives throughout the remainder of the year. I ask Allah to make this year a successful year. I ask him to protect our children and help them with their academics. Also, I ask Allah to bring together our community and keep us responsible. Amen, Thank You, Br. Ziyad Awad
