Lu Cooper MINISTER S DISCRETIONARY FUND NEEDS REPLENISHING: It is not like me to come to you asking for assistance for the Minister's Discretionary Fund, but this summer has been demanding on the fund. We have helped mostly members and some with rather sizable amounts with rent, utilities, etc. I was advised this week that the fund is actually in the red at the current time. I have already had to turn down two requests since receiving this news. If you wish to help restock the fund, no matter how small the amount, I invite you to place a check or cash in an envelope in the offering plate and mark it clearly: MINISTER'S DISCRETIONARY FUND on the memo line of your check or on the front of an offering envelope. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide. May God bless you for caring and sharing. We, the staff of LUMC, are planning to offer a ministry opportunity to help everyone to cope with school start-up stress. This opportunity will be for ALL God s people, young and old. It is being scheduled for the Sunday of the week preceding the opening of most schools in Forsyth County for the new academic year. It will take the form of a HEALING AND STRESS-REDUCTION SERVICE on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 5:00pm in the sanctuary. Susan Ewing and I will preside assisted by Stephen Ministers/Leaders. The Lord s Supper will NOT be a part of the service which will focus almost totally on praying with you for help and strength to cope with the stress of starting the new school year. It will incorporate the laying on of hands and anointing with oil, as is the custom at all healing services. We invite you to come together as families, especially if this is one of those big years or transitions in your family life such as a child starting pre-school, elementary, middle, or high school. Or young people going off to college. Parents need lots of TLC when they are required to let go! We think we can help with our prayers, our fellowship, and our caring presence at the Healing Service on August 28. MISSION 5K: The Run for God group will be participating in the Mission 5K on August 27. If anyone would like to join them, please go to the Fleet Feet Store or their website and sign up.
