Old Town Baptist Church - A church leading people to become fully committed followers of Christ WELCOME REV. TERRY SMITH AND CINDY JOHNSON TO THE OTBC STAFF!!! We are excited to welcome Rev. Terry Smith and his wife Bonnie as our Worship and Discipleship Pastor and Cindy Johnson and her husband Steve as our Director of Contemporary Worship and Discipleship. They begin their work among us on July 1 st and will be leading worship for us on Sunday, July 6 th. Let s do all we can to give them a warm OTBC welcome as they lead us to worship our Savior the Lord Jesus! Taking VBS to the Streets After an awesome week of VBS in our facilities, we will take it to the streets. We want to have gatherings at a few homes around our community for a 1 1 ½ hour Backyard Bible Club on the first three Sunday evenings in August. Pray about how God can use you to share Jesus in this way. We will need host homes/yards as well as adults, students and children to be present and leaders to work with the Bible story, crafts, games and snacks. If you are willing to answer God s call to share Christ in this way, contact Pastor Mark at mharrison@otbclife.com. There is an information meeting Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room for those willing to serve. Pray that we will be able to engage many of our neighbor families with the Good News about Jesus through these three Sunday s of worship through service on mission. Bread of Life Food Pantry Help meet physical and spiritual needs of our neighbors through your prayers and food donations to the Bread of Life Food Pantry. Common food and household items include: canned vegetables, fruit and meats; spaghetti noodles and sauce; breakfast cereals; peanut butter; jelly; instant grits and oatmeal; macaroni and cheese; as well as bath soap, paper towels and toilet tissue. Drop boxes are placed at the Media Center and CLC entrance. The Pantry is open each Thursday from 1:00 5:00 p.m. and is located at Forest Hill Baptist Church, 402 Polo Road. 7 7 7 Call to Prayer Blow the trumpet sound the alarm for the day of the Lord is coming. It is close at hand-- Rend your heart and your garments. Return to the Lord your God ~Joel 2:1, 13. Pray for revival and spiritual awakening in our nation on each of the first 7 days of the 7 th month; fast and pray for 7 hours on 7/7. Learn more about this call by visiting www.annegrahamlotz.com.

PASTOR S PARAGRAPHS IT S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT WE ARE HALF WAY THROUGH THE YEAR 2014 and yet when the calendar turns to the month of July, we know that the first half of this year is completed! It has been an exciting and busy half year for us as a church and I do not expect the second half of the year to be any less exciting or busy. I am grateful to our staff, volunteer leaders and church members for all you do to help us reach lost people with the gospel and equip saved people to be disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. THERE ARE A COUPLE THINGS I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU TODAY. Last year for the month of July I challenged you to spend your Sunday evenings seeking to engage your neighbors, family members and friends. Have a cookout. Share ice cream together. Just get together and chat. You can do whatever you choose to do, but the purpose is to intentionally seek to engage people who may be unchurched and/or lost. Many of you shared good experiences from that last year and so I want to encourage you to do something similar again this July on Sunday evenings. So, we will be having church on Sunday evenings, just not at the church building. We want to out engaging people and connecting with people; in some cases, maybe meeting some neighbors you ve never met before. Let s once again invade our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ. In August we are planning to hold some special outreach events in some neighborhoods around our church. So your efforts in July can lay a great foundation for even greater opportunity in August! A SECOND THING I WANT TO ADDRESS IS THAT JULY marks the time when our Committee on Committees and Nominating Committee do the bulk of their work to staff our ministries with volunteer leaders for the next church year. You can make their work much easier by volunteering for your areas of interest and giftedness. Our Committee on Committees chairperson is Austin Callahan and our Nominating Committee chairperson is Billy High. Please contact these men or any member of the committee and let them know your specific area of interest. Let me add that each one of the most challenging ministries to get workers is our nursery/preschool area. Please step up and serve in this most vital area of ministry. You can make an eternal difference in the lives of our youngest ones by showing them the love of Christ even at such an early age. Let s make the work of our committees a joy this year as every steps up and agrees to serve in the nursery/preschool ministry as well as other areas of ministry interest. The more who serve, the less the burden on any one person to serve! Thank you even now for your willingness to serve in the coming year. Let s make our ministries the best ever as we together continue to expect great things! I PRAY YOU ARE HAVING A MOST BLESSED SUMMER! Enjoy some time with family and friends! Hope you get some vacation time! But when you are in town, remember we still meet every Sunday morning and I hope you will plan to be present! See you on Sunday! Collect your shoeboxes to be filled in November You can buy the plastic shoeboxes. You can wrap your paper shoeboxes. You can bring your boxes and we will wrap for you. Don t have a box? We will give you a wrapped box.

KIDZTOWN A Note from Mrs. Shannon It is very hard to believe that July is already here. School is out, finally. The summer temperatures are here. We just finished up Vacation Bible School and it was truly a great week. I saw so many smiles on faces, both children and adults. It is great to have a week to come together and learn about Jesus how He was God s son and was more than just a good man, and so much more that was learned. I am just so very thankful for all those that joined the VBS team as a volunteer. We could not have done it without you. It takes so many people to make the week run smoothly. Big thanks to all that joined the team as secret agents, both children and adults, of Agency D3. It is wonderful to see so many people come together to make this week special. It is also great to see how many children were here that got to hear about Jesus! So, thank you, thank you, thank you! Please be in prayer for the 20 children and 6 adults that will be attending CentriKid Camp at Eagle Eyrie in Lynchburg, VA, during the week of July 7-11. Pray that any that do not have a saving relationship with Jesus may come to know Him. Also pray for those children that have a life committed to Christ, that they will grow closer to Him and learn ways to continue to grow closer to Him. We hope we have a great week at camp with lots of memories made and relationships strengthened. Awana will be starting back up on September 7 th. Get ready for a great time because it will be here before we know it. We are already making plans for the fall and that includes looking for some great volunteers to join the Awana team. If you are interested, please let me know. Praise Pals and Power Up are continuing to meet on Wednesday evenings through the summer. We are continuing to sing songs of praise, learn about missionaries (some from OTBC), spend time in prayer for missionaries, and have some summer-fun along the way too. The PowerUp group was actually able to go to Brookridge Retirement Community a few weeks ago to share with the residents there. It is so very special to see our children sharing about Jesus and loving on people, by simply spending time with them and talking to them. Please join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30. Please take a look at the church calendar to see how the schedule will be slightly different this month in regards to Sunday evenings. Please take that time to engage people in your community, sharing Jesus with them, every chance that you get. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement! Please contact Mrs. Shannon to find your spot to volunteer with KidzTown at Old Town or with any questions that you may have either by calling the church office or by E-mail at scallahan@otbclife.org. Hope you have a great July! OTBC Medical Mission Medical Clinic is closed for the summer. Clinics will resume on August 18. Pray this month: Ask the Father to give rest to our volunteers and renew their passion for the work to begin again after the summer break. Also, pray the Father will provide all the volunteers medical and non-medical that will be needed to resume offering clinics in August.
