Service Ministries: Alcoholic Anonymous AA meets twice during the week on Monday nights at 7:00 p.m. in the downstairs conference room of the Schneider Parish Center and on Thursday nights at 7:00 pm in the church basement. Contact: Jack Reece jackreece84@comcast.net Altar Society This ministry cleans and beautifies the church and altar. Volunteers needed at each worship site to help clean the church weekly. Bereavement Ministry Our Bereavement Ministry provides post-funeral luncheons for any parishioner at no cost to the family. Volunteers needed to set-up, serve, clean-up and provide a covered dish. Contact: Donna Martin kd3526@verizon.net Community Outreach Our Lady of Consolation Church is a member of the Parkesburg Churches Community Outreach (PCCO), a coalition of 11 Parkesburg area churches that provides multi-faceted social assistance and referrals to individuals and families living within the Octorara Area School District. Contact: PCCO 610-568-5835 Gardening and Landscape Stewardship Our purpose is to act as caring stewards of our beloved parish sites by communally maintaining and beautifying the church grounds. Typically we weed, prune, deadhead, water, mulch, remove litter and occasionally plant seasonal items. Many of us appreciate the opportunity to come together as a service community and get grounded with nature, God and each other. Contact: Janice Dagney 610-857-0511 jdagney@gmail.com Good Samaritan Good Samaritan delivers hot, homemade meals to Our Lady of Consolation families who have had new babies, elderly members of the parish and those who are in need of extra help with a hot meal due to illness or unexpected crisis. Volunteers are always needed and welcomed for this ministry. Time commitment: Varies depending on need. Contact: Sue Brown jfscbrown@verizon.net Health Care Ministry Our Health Care Ministry ensures the health and well-being of our parishioners by providing home visits, meals and other health services. Hospitality Committee (Greeters and Ushers) To be a Greeter you must arrive at church 30 minutes early to greet people as they arrive for Mass and distribute bulletins and music sheets. The ushers also welcome people and are helpful to all who come to Our Lady of Consolation. They direct the flow of activity in the church and are aware of anyone who is in need, take up the collection, direct the communicants, and answer questions. Both greeters and ushers should help at the end of service to remove any non-pertinent papers from the pews. Contact Joe Dagney joedagney@aol.ocom Kitchen Ministry The Kitchen Ministry provides meals for parish socials, Lenten fish fries and various other events throughout the year. Contact: Donna Martin kd3526@verizon.net Prayer Shawl Ministry Prayer Shawls are knitted or crocheted by members of this ministry while offering prayers and blessings for the recipient. Intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. When the shawl is completed it is offered with prayer to the recipient. You don t have to be experienced in knitting or crocheting to join. We have a beginner pattern, or you can use one of your own. Contact: Carol Egan jcegan4@gmail.com S.A.M. Substance Abuse Ministry Contact: Jack Reece jackreece84@comcast.net Special Events Committee: Our goal is to foster a parish community by planning and facilitating parish events (e.g., Valentine Day Dinner Dance, St. Patrick s Day Dinner, Family Picnics, Lenten Fish Fry). This committee will arrange events throughout the year. Duties will include setting up; decorating, cooking and serving food; and cleaning up. We are looking for people to be part of this committee and take a leadership role in holding events at Our Lady of Consolation. St. Joseph's Guild This ministry takes on selected construction and repair projects at the 3 worship sites. Projects involve painting, carpentry, landscaping etc. Contact: Mark Agen 484-798-4395 Young at Heart Young at Heart is an Over 50 group that meets once a month to have lunch together at the S.P.C. and to share fellowship. Administrative Ministries: Financial Committee This committee establishes internal controls and advises the pastor and the Pastoral Council on a full range of parish financial issues. It also provides bookkeeping, accounting services and money counting teams. Contact: Mary Wishneski mwishneski@olcchurch.org Pastoral Council The Pastoral Council is composed of parish members whose ministry is to advise the Pastor on the day-to-day workings of the parish. Its primary responsibility is assuring the best interests of the entire parish are being served. Please note that this is an elected position. Chairman: Bill Mann bmann3@earthlink.net Stewardship Committee The mission of the Stewardship Committee is to foster an environment in which Stewardship is understood, accepted, and practiced throughout the parish. Stewardship is the commitment of a person s time, talent, and treasure. We are looking for people who understand the value of Stewardship in our parish. Contact: Joe Dagney joedagney@aol.com Communications Ministries: OLC Church Mailings We are looking for volunteers to help with occasional mailings at the church. It would require no special skill except the ability to stuff envelopes! We send a mailing approximately once a month to over 1000 families and need volunteers who are available in the morning but there is no commitment. Spirituality Ministries: Altar Servers Altar servers assist the priest and deacon at Mass. Servers must be in at least third grade and have made their First Holy Communion. Contact: Deacon Gene senorfav@netzero.net CAFÉ (Catholic Adult Faith Enrichment) The CAFÉ programs help adults develop a better understanding of, and participation in, the full sacramental life of the Church. Contact: Paul Harkins harkfam1@verizon.net Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist This ministry assists at Mass in distributing the Body and the Blood of the Lord during Communion and brings the Holy Eucharist to our ill and homebound parishioners. Contact: Deacon Gene senorfav@netzero.net Ministry of Spanish-speaking Members This ministry provides a weekly Mass in Spanish. Contact: Father Estrada 610-384-0360 Prayer Chain This ministry prays for those who request prayers and notify others of the prayer request. Pre-Cana Married couples meet with and mentor engaged couples one-on-one to discuss the Sacrament of Matrimony and the issues associated with it. Pre-Jordan Baptism classes for the parents prior to a child s baptism. Proclaimers of the Word This ministry provides for the prayerful proclamation of the Word of God at Mass. Contact: Deacon Gene senorfav@netzero.netcontact: Rectory 610-857-3510 RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) RCIA is designed for adults seeking to enter the fullness of the Catholic Church, through Bible study, faith sharing and the study of the Catholic Church doctrine.

Music Ministries: The Music Ministry is dedicated to bringing people closer to Christ through worship using music. We strive to provide a variety of opportunities for people to participate in Mass using their gifts of music. Voices of Praise Adult Choir This is open to all parishioners, ages 13 and up, who love to sing! Music reading ability is not necessary, but helpful. Jammin for Jesus This is a band that plays at the 11:00 Mass. All musically inclined may join. Must be in High School or older. Cantors - This is open to anyone interested in leading the congregation in singing. Instrumentalists - We are seeking those individuals who are proficient on an instrument (keyboard, guitar, flute, trumpet, or any other instrument for that matter!) Rehearsal times are flexible. Sound Engineers - This is open to anyone with a knowledge of audio/visual equipment. Contact: Janeen Walker jkrtlm@comcast.net St. Malachi Adult Choir The St. Malachi Adult Choir is open to all parishioners, ages 13 and up, who love to sing! Children Ministries: Children s Church This ministry offers young children an opportunity to experience the Word in a way that engages them at their level. This ministry occurs during the Liturgy of the Word at the 11:00 Sunday Mass. Children ages 4-5 are dismissed at the Opening Prayer to read and discuss the Gospel in a way that is meaningful to them. Children then work on an art project or worksheet that supports the Gospel they have just read. Children return to Mass after the Lord s Prayer. Volunteers assist the children with activities and responses that allow them to really participate in the liturgy. Volunteer commitment is approximately 1 hour per month. Before and After School care is also available. For more information you can check out our website at www.olcelc.com Contact: Shelly Carr olcelc1163@gmail.com Little Blessings During the 11:00 am Sunday Mass, Our Lady of Consolation offers a nursery for small children (ages 1 to 3 years) at the Parish Center. This allows parents the opportunity to attend and be full participants in Mass without being distracted by the needs of their little ones. The children have fun playing with toys and making new friends. There must be two volunteers staffing the nursery each Sunday. Volunteer commitment is approximately 1 hour per month. Parish Religious Education Program Formerly referred to as CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine), PREP is available for parish children from kindergarten through fifth grade. Volunteers needed to teach no experience necessary just a love for children and Jesus. Vacation Bible School A week-long, fun-filled way for younger parishioners (Preschool Grade 5) to learn more about the Bible and meet new friends. To volunteer or for more information:

Youth Ministries: Life Teen Junior Varsity (LTJV) This ministry offers Catechistic development for our 6 th and 7 th graders through a fun and spiritually based interactive format, with special emphasis on strengthening personal relationships with Christ and building a strong sense of church community with fellow classmates. Core members needed. No teaching experience needed. Just a love of children and Jesus! Life Teen Youth Program The mission of LifeTeen is to lead our High School students to Christ through prayer and fellowship. Our young people engage in fun social events as well as teachings throughout the year. LifeTeen meets every Sunday after the 11:00 am Mass at the Schneider Parish Center. Core team members needed. One8 Confirmation Class 8 th grade This ministry offers Catechistic preparation and development for Confirmation candidates through a fun and spiritually based interactive format, with special emphasis on strengthening personal relationships with Christ and building a strong sense of church community with fellow classmates. Our One8 Class meets on Tuesday evenings during the school year from 6:30 8:00pm. Core members needed. No teaching experience needed.
