THE DIOCESE OF NEW YORK and NEW JERSEY 2015 - SECOND DIOCESAN GIRLS RETREAT 2015 Serving Out of Love Dear Reverend Fathers: GLORY TO JESUS CHRIST! GLORY FOREVER! Greetings to all of you, your families, and the faithful of your parishes. As we begin this new Liturgical Year, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop MICHAEL, we are preparing for the Second Annual Diocesan Girls Retreat which will be held at Saint Basil's Academy, 79 Saint Basil Road, Garrison NY, from November 13-15, 2015 for young women in grades 7-12. The main focus of this Second Annual Diocesan Girls Retreat is to bring the young women of our Diocese together in prayer, Christian fellowship, education, and lots of fun! Under the guidance and direction of Archbishop Michael, the participants will learn the importance and role of women in the life of the Church by way of Serving Out of Love with sessions taught by Mother Christophora, the Abbess of The Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City, PA. Participants will also learn about the life and ministry of Blessed Matushka Olga of Alaska, and enjoy fellowship, education, and spiritual enrichment with one another. Please refer to the enclosed materials which contain the schedule of events for the Retreat, as well as other important information and required forms that must be completed for each participant. As this is a Diocesan sponsored event, His Eminence will be joining us for part of the weekend at which time the participants of our diocese will be able to spend some time with His Eminence in prayer and in fellowship. A special feature at this year s retreat is that all participants will have an opportunity to participate in two unique activities: 1. Prosphora Baking Lesson 2. Donating to Dutchess Outreach (a mission located in Poughkeepsie NY) o Please see attached list of items that are needed Since we are looking to have as many of our young women present for this event as possible, we will also need chaperones. If you know of any mothers or women of your parishes who are accompanying the participants and are able to offer their time as a chaperone, we would greatly appreciate it. We especially need chaperones on Saturday Evening! Please contact Fr. Jason as soon as possible so that we can begin to make arrangements. In preparing for this event, the second of its kind for the young women of our Diocese, please find enclosed with this letter a registration and permission form for your children. If you would please fill out, sign and return the forms to us no later than NOVEMBER 2, we would greatly appreciate it. If you have any questions about the retreat, or if you are eager to personally participate in this labor of love alongside Archbishop Michael, then please do not hesitate to contact one of us. We thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to hearing from you. May GOD continue to bless and guide you, your families, and the faithful of your parishes! With Love in Christ, Rev.
