I love that this series can be read and enjoyed by both the parent and child. There are not a lot of series that can do that (Off the top of my head, Harry Potter is probably the only other series I constantly recommend as a family read). Yes I do believe Cameo Renae is that good. Descent is a novella in the Hidden Wings series. It is an Angel Series. Hidden Wings is the first book in the series but Descent can be read before or after. Hidden Wings give us the story of Emma and Descent tells us from who Emma comes. I really liked that the author went into some detail not only about the birth family but also about the adopted family of Emma and that she brought in a loving relationship

between half sisters. I know that can sound sappy but Cameo Renae makes it work without the sap. Descent offers up a heady story of romance, intrigue and danger. It tells the story of parental love, (both angel and human), that goes so deep it is felt even when the parent is unknown and it allows for heartbreaking decisions. I highly recommend this book and series. No bad language, graphic sex or gratuitous violence. This book is, imo, great for younger teens and enjoyable by older teens and adults as well. This book is a 'don't put down' kind of book that grips you from the beginning and doesn't let go until the very last page. It's a novella, so I wish it could have gone on a bit longer, but it is a necessary ingredient to understanding Cameo's unique vision. I love seeing the motivations of characters, and this novella gives insights and motivations of the characters we've grown to know and love. It answers questions fans have been dying to know, and it raises some new ones. Who is Alaine's father? Hmmm...I can't wait to find out. I recommend Hidden Wings and then Descent to anyone who can read; everyone should read it! Now it's on to Broken Wings! The sequels just can't come fast enough! Fallen angels, humans, nephiliam, watchers and darklings; Supernaturals. A young girl is raised by a man & woman she believes are her parents till they die in a car wreck and she is whisked away by people she knows nothing about and taken to a women she has been told is her aunt whom she has never met. Her story is a mystery to her and its just beginning to unfold. I just finished reading Descent. Breezed through it. Once I started reading, there was no putting it down. Amazing. The writing is excellent. The story kept me riveted from the start. But the great mystery remains...who exactly is Emma's grandfather (Alaine's angel father)? Can it be one of the archangels?? I hope his identity is revealed at some point in the series. Now I am anxiously counting the days to get my hands on Broken Wings! Kudos to you, Cameo! You've once again given us a terrific story.(less) Decent is the prequel to the Hidden Wings series by Cameo Renae. This book told the back story of Emma's grandparents and parents. I learned their thoughts and what they felt. It was full of dangers and forbidden love. I like knowing Emma's full history. It really brings her to life even more. I read the first two books in this series before reading this prequel, and I'd definitely recommend others to read it in the same order to fully appreciate how the secrets and mysteries reveal themselves and

I love this series so far. I have been looking forward to this small excursion into the past. I enjoyed it very much. I can't really get too into the review without spoiling it all for you. If you haven't read Hidden Wings then it doesn't really matter. This is the second book but it is the story of how it all came to be.i was so sad for all of them. Love shouldn't have laws. This novella takes place before the events of the first book, but I definitely think it should be read as it was published... after reading the first book.in a lot of ways, I think I enjoyed the novella more than I did the first book. It takes place over a long period of time, but it also explores the mythology and back story of the series to come. We learn so much about some of the characters that we met in Hidden Wings and it answers a lot of questions about where things began before the time of the first book.my Recommendation: It's a short read, but one that I think is important to the series. I almost wish it had been a full-length book in itself! I gave it 4.5 mugs. This was a great companion novella to Hidden Wings, the first book in this series. You don't absolutely have to read it to enjoy the second book, but I recommend it since it fills in a lot of the back story and gives character insight that is helpful for fully appreciating book 2 (Broken Wings). This author tells a great story, especially if you like the angel genre. The only thing I would recommend is better editing, but it did not prevent me from enjoying the book. I can't wait for more from this author!
