THE EYES OF SALVATION LUKE 2:21-32
In every act, we see God s love for people.
Luke 2:21 21 When the eight days were completed for His circumcision, He was named Jesus the name given by the angel before He was conceived. 22 And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were finished,
Luke 2:22 they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord (just as it is written in the law of the Lord: Every firstborn male will be dedicated to the Lord),
Luke 2:22 24 and to offer a sacrifice (according to what is stated in the law of the Lord: a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons).
Circumcision was given to Abraham.
Genesis 17:7-12 7 I will keep My covenant between Me and you, and your future offspring throughout their generations, as an everlasting covenant to be your God and the God of your offspring after you.
Genesis 17:7-12 8 And to you and your future offspring I will give the land where you are residing all the land of Canaan as an eternal possession, and I will be their God.
Genesis 17:7-12 9 God also said to Abraham, As for you, you and your offspring after you throughout their generations are to keep My covenant.
Genesis 17:7-12 10 This is My covenant, which you are to keep, between Me and you and your offspring after you: Every one of your males must be circumcised.
Genesis 17:7-12 11You must circumcise the flesh of your foreskin to serve as a sign of the covenant between Me and you.
Genesis 17:7-12 12 Throughout your generations, every male among you at eight days old is to be circumcised.
1. Circumcision shows Jesus is under the law.
Galatians 4:4-5 4 When the time came to completion, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

Matthew 5:17 17 Don t assume that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
2. Circumcision is not enough.
Romans 2:25 25 For circumcision benefits you if you observe the law, but if you are a lawbreaker, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
What do people do now that makes them think they are good with God?

Circumcision goes back to the point of the law.
Romans 3:20 20 For no one will be justified in His sight by the works of the law, because the knowledge of sin comes through the law.
Romans 2:28-29 28 For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, and true circumcision is not something visible in the flesh.
Romans 2:28-29 29 On the contrary, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart by the Spirit, not the letter.

Luke 2:22-32 31You have prepared it in the presence of all peoples 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles and glory to Your people Israel.
John 1:29 29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, Here is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Isaiah 49:6 6 He says, You will do more than restore the people of Israel to me. I will make you a light to the Gentiles, and you will bring my salvation to the ends of the earth.
