Co-Curriculum Activities There are many things for you to look forward to, once you decide to join the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAGS). Life at IAGS provides all possible opportunities to excel in both physical and mental capabilities. Beside Annual functions, annual sports week, Welcome, Eid Milan and Iftar parties, students and faculty organizes special days and walks for noble causes and fund raising. Some recent highlights of such activities are shared here: Annual Function (2014) Institute of Agricultural Sciences celebrated its 11 th annual day on 08 th May 2014.The function started with recitation from the Holy Quran. Chief guest, Punjab Agriculture Minister Dr. Furruk Javed and Guest of Honour, Prof.Dr. Mujhaid Kamran, Vice Chancellor University of the Punjab, Lahore.Prof. Dr. M.Saleem Haider Director, IAGS, welcome all the chief guest and respected guests from different institutes and departments. Prof. Dr. Mujhaid Karman inaugurated newly installed institute s generator and Real PCR machine and addressed that Institute of Agricultural sciences is developing themselves as a best institute of Punjab University.Stduents of institute won financial scholarship on merit basis, from Khair o Barkat Sultan Ali Chuadary and Hunza seed corporation. They received scholarship cheques from Ch. Sultan Ali, Ex-Chairman ZTBL and also granted 5 lacs for more merit students. Dr. FurruK Javed addressed that institute of Agricultural Science lies in the main city of Punjab and performing excellent out put in the sector of agriculture by producing intelligent students, working on the field based problems to reduce the yield losses. The students of the Institute presented their fountain of talents by skits/dramas performance, poetry and singing. Shafiq (Lecturer), Miss Mehreen Hassan (Lecturer) and Mr. M.Taufeeq Asghar (Admin officer) organized this gala dinner under the supervision of Prof.Dr. Saleem Haider.
Annual Function (2013) Institute of Agricultural Sciences celebrated its10th annual day on 14 th February 2013.The Chief guest of the function was Mr. Sultan Ali Chuadary (Ex-Director,ZTBL) and Prof.Dr. Mujahid Kamran, Vice Chancellor University of the Punjab, Lahore.The worthy vice chancellor Prof.Dr. Mujahid Kamran, inaugurated the ceremony of changing the nomenclure of Institute from Institute of Plant Pathology to Institute of Agricultural Sciences. The Chief guest, Mr. Sultan Ali Chuadary and Prof.Dr. Mujahid Kamran, addressed the audience and shared their views about the department that Institute of Agricultural Sciences play a very important role in the agro based industry. Cheief guest, Mr.Sultan Ali Ch. Announced that he will give a tractor to institute for field work and also announced scholarship for the needy students of the Institute.Director, Prof.Dr. M.Saleem Haider made a humble beginning by a warm & heartfelt welcome speech. He presented the Institute report tracing the progress made in the last one year & said that the institute has taken long strides and made commendable progress since 2002.The

Annual Sports Week 2012-13 Sports week was organized in IAGS on 27-29 March 2012 and 11-15 March 2013. Different games were played as cricket, football, badminton, table tennis and much more. The department was decorated with beautiful color charts and flags. Prof. Dr.M.Saleem Haider (director of institute) conveyed a speech on this occasion and said Students learn more positive spirits from sports activities than from libraries. The qualities required for students to become responsible adults and productive citizens are to learn teamwork, sportsmanship, winning and losing, the rewards of hard work, self-discipline, and develop skills to handle competitive situations. Books can offer stories about these spirits but students cannot understand without self-experience what they are really mean.
