Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time ~ November 18, 2018 Page 4 On Friday, November 9 Saint Christopher School hosted a Paint Night fundraiser in the Saint Christopher parish hall. It was a fun event for all who attended. Our parish school received 50% of the proceeds from this event. Another Paint Night is being planned for the Spring of 2019. We ll advertise the date as soon as it s determined. We hope you ll be able to join us! LECTIO DIVINA & DAILY READINGS ENCOURAGEMENT This Sunday s Gospel is our final selection from Mark for this liturgical year. It is taken from the end of Jesus teaching in Jerusalem immediately preceding the account of his arrest and passion. In it Jesus gives his disciples hope to sustain them through his passion and death and any persecution or suffering that they would encounter after his resurrection. The words from the book of Daniel also provided hope and encouragement to the people of Daniel s time. The encouragement in these scriptures is meant for us as well, for none of us will escape tribulation in our lives. Followers of Jesus will be able to endure suffering with joyful hope, knowing that Christ s love will lead us along the way of discipleship and give us eternal life with God. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. Sunday Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Thanksgiving Day Friday Saturday Sunday Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe Daniel 12: 1-3 Revelation 1:1-4; 2:1-5 Revelation 3: 1-6, 14-22 Revelation 4: 1-11 Sirach 50: 22-24 Revelation 10: 8-11 Revelation 11: 4-12 Daniel 7: 13-14 Psalm 16: 5, 8-11 Psalm 1: 1-4, 6 Psalm 15: 2-5 Psalm 150: 1b-6 Psalm 113: 1-8 Psalm 119: 14, 24, 72, 103, 111, 131 Psalm 144: 1b, 2, 9-10 Psalm 93: 1-2, 5 Hebrews 10: 11-14, 18 1 Corinthians 1: 3-9 Revelation 1: 5-8 Mark 13: 24-32 Luke 18: 35-43 Luke 19: 1-10 Luke 19: 11-28 Luke 17: 11-19 Luke 19: 45-48 Luke 20: 27-40 John 18: 33b-37 What is Lectio Divina? While reading sacred scripture, read the words with a love and sense of discovery until something seems to strike home. Sit with the passage as one would with a good friend-not just thinking or analyzing, but instead remaining in a quiet, listening spirit, so the word can nurture and challenge you. Call to Prayer: Let us take a moment in the midst of all our activity to prepare ourselves for prayer. Excerpts from SNOW FALLING ON SNOW Copyright 2001 by Robert J. Wicks Used with permission of Paulist Press The Word of God: Choose one of next Sunday s readings. One person reads the scripture aloud as others are attentive to a word, phrase, or theme that is meaningful to them. Allow for a minute of silent reflection. Have another person read the same scripture a second time. Faith Sharing: Begin with an open ended question such as What strikes you from this reading? and/ or you can use the Reflection Question found below. Allow time for reflection & sharing. Reflection for Next Sunday, November 25 Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe Closing Prayer: At the end of the faith sharing, invite participants to pray aloud for any particular petitions or praises they may have. Feel free to close with: The Lord s Prayer or spontaneous prayers or a faith-based song. As we struggle to become closer disciples of Jesus, how many times, like Pilate, do we turn our back on the Lord and seek worldly gain? Yet, in His infinite mercy, He forgives us and calls us back to a closer relationship with Him in His kingdom where we will find rest in God s divine love for all eternity.

You may put your pre-registration in an envelope marked Santa Breakfast and place it in next weekend s collection basket or send it directly to Saint Christopher School.
