"V-I-C-T-O-R-Y!" I have been enjoying the NCAA tournament. After a bad season, my team was not invited to the dance, and since I have never figured out how or why to do brackets, I haven t had a dog in the fight. My fun comes watching close games finish. The strategy and the clutch plays both offensively and defensively are fun to watch. Most exciting of all are the buzzer beaters! "Wow!" "What a shot!" "He made it!" The Good Friday to Easter sequence is quite the nail biter. Friday afternoon, Jesus gives his life on the cross as an atonement for sin... for your sin... for my sin. Because of his sacrifice, we can have forgiveness of sins and a relationship with our heavenly father. For three days, it looks like Satan has won...in a blow out! The eternal Christ, the Son of God is locked in Satan s dungeon known as death. Spoiler alert!!! Do not change the channel. In the spiritual realm, Easter Sunday morning begins with Jesus "dead" chained to a slab in Satan s dungeon. First, his eye blinks. Then he yawns, breaks the chains, stretches, and jumps up clothed in victorious white array. He breaks open the gates of Hell and leads the souls of the righteous out with him. On earth, Jesus throws off the shroud that covered his body, watches the stone roll away from the mouth of the tomb, and walks out as our risen Lord! "Wow!" "That just happened!" "What a huge win!" "V-I-C-T-O-R-Y! That s the Christian battle cry!" Paul writes: "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 Jesus is more powerful that Satan, death, and sin! Jesus is more powerful than the sin in my life... in your life. All the affections and the addictions, worldly ways and the carnal nature, cultural values and peer pressure: Jesus is stronger than all that. When Satan entices me, Jesus wants to give me victory. When temptation comes your way, Jesus can give you victory. If we cooperate, we will be victorious through Christ! Through the Holy Spirit s sanctifying grace, we can live victorious lives! "V-I-C-T-O-R-Y! That s the Christian battle cry!" Come celebrate this amazing Easter win, April 16th! See you Sunday, April 2017 Pastor Brad ps. 1. I am blessed that I get to go to Haiti, April 3-12, with the Liberty Chapel Lifeline mission team. Please pray for our team and for the people we are privileged to serve. 2. You will be blessed on Palm Sunday! Eric Witte will be bringing the message, April 9-8:15 and 10:30. 3. Maundy Thursday, April 13. We will commemorate the Last Supper with communion at 7:00. 4. Good Friday, April 14. We will worship with other community churches at 7:00 at Colton UMC. 5. Our Easter schedule is different. 7:30 - Sunrise Celebration! Easter breakfast follows. 9:00 - Sunday School. 10:00 - Easter worship service!

April 2017 Newsletter March was a pretty great month. Our Impact weekend was awesome, and I walked away from the weekend feeling refreshed spiritually. In addition to the parts of the weekend with the whole church, the youth did a service project on Saturday (and went out to eat) then went bowling on Sunday! We partnered with Victory Chapel and spent a couple of hours right after the morning session on Saturday cleaning the Rock. Wow! What a difference that made! There were about 15 of us at the Rock and cleaned the place from floor to ceiling. It looks so much better now and is a lot more organized. On Sunday we went bowling right after church. There were about 20 of us who went bowling and we had a great time! I m hoping that April is just as good. We have the Youth led Sunrise service coming up on April 16 th at 7:30 a.m. and I will be going to Haiti from April 3 rd -12 th. I m super excited for this Haiti trip. We have been planning, praying, and preparing for months, and it is finally here! I was able to go to Haiti after my senior year of high school and it was a life changing experience. I grew such a heart for those people and can t wait to go back to serve in Haiti once more. I am super excited for this opportunity and ask that you join our team in prayer for this trip. Pray that God will move while we are down there and that we can be His hands and feet to those around us. Have an awesome April! Pastor Tom

The Haiti Mission Team will be headed South, April 3rd and coming home April 12th. Please keep these team members in your prayers as they prepare for their trip: Joe Gillen, Dan Bare, Pastor Tom, Sue Krugh, Darren Estelle, Jacob Clapp, Libbey Eicher, John & Kathy Hartford, Jacob Plassman, Jeff & Julia Morrill and Pastor Brad. EASTER SEASON SCHEDULE OF EVENTS Thursday, April 13th Maundy Thursday Service at 7 pm Friday, April 14th Good Friday Service at Colton UMC at 7 pm Sunday, April 15th Sunrise Service at 7:30 am (Breakfast to follow after Sunrise Service) Sunday School 9 am Worship Service 10 am Easter Joy Jesus came to earth, To show us how to live, How to put others first, How to love and how to give. Then He set about His work, That God sent Him to do; He took our punishment on Himself; He made us clean and new. He could have saved Himself, Calling angels from above, But He chose to pay our price for sin; He paid it out of love. Our Lord died on Good Friday, But the cross did not destroy His resurrection on Easter morn That fills our hearts with joy. Now we know our earthly death, Like His, is just a rest. We'll be forever with Him In heaven, where life is best. So we live our lives for Jesus, Think of Him in all we do. Thank you Savior; Thank you Lord. Help us love like you! By Joanna Fuchs
