ABOUT OUR WORSHIP Appreciation is expressed to guest musicians Steve Shelton, Jan Strohl, and Steve Ware. The acolytes are Ephraim Causby and Frank O Neill and the crucifer is Annie Winkelman. Please silence all electronic devices. Thank you! Printed music used by permission of OneLicense.net #A-724940. ABOUT OUR BANNERS The way is a familiar biblical theme encompassing such truths as the way of the Lord (Isaiah 40:3), Jesus as the way (John 14:6), and the way as a description of Christian discipleship (Acts 9:2). The words on the banner point to the movements of faith: Longing for God that impels us forward in the spiritual journey; Learning the way of the Scriptures and the way of Jesus; Loving as our love for God and our neighbors deepens; and Living as we live out of Christian faith and witness in the world. The colors of the banner emphasize green for ordinary time, the period in the church year between Pentecost and Advent. The artist who designed and painted the banners is our own Bambi Setzer. 5

If you have not yet returned your giving promise for the next year, the pledge card can be found at www.knollwood.org/resources/giving-online-, or requested by calling the church office. HUNGER EMPHASIS IN NOVEMBER Please consider making a special offering beyond your normally budgeted gifts by simply noting World Hunger Offering on a donation check and dropping it into the offering plate or at the church office. These funds are divided and distributed through two channels: Locally: Samaritan Ministries provides the only seven-day-a-week soup kitchen in Forsyth County. In 2017, the Samaritan Kitchen served 148,031 meals. Internationally: Baptist World Aid, funded through the Baptist World Alliance, feeds the starving and malnourished, especially in countries suffering from drought and food shortages. For more than 80 years, these funds have been used to provide food, medicines and medical equipment and to support agricultural and educational projects. If you know of someone who you believe would be a strong candidate for our Knollwood staff, please send an email to musicsearch@knollwood.org. Please include the name and contact information of the person you are recommending as well as any supplemental information that you think will be helpful to the committee. A description of the role of music at Knollwood and the leadership profile for the music minister is at www.knollwood.org/resources/kbc-documents. SUNDAY, DEC. 16, AGAPE 2018 Each year Knollwood celebrates the birth of Christ with Agape Sunday, a time to experience the love of the Father and fellowship among Christians. There will be a special worship service and Communion, followed by a shared meal in the Fellowship Hall and Dining Room. All are welcome to attend. To read more about the history of this celebration, go to www.knollwood.org/about-us/agape-traditons. Each family attending is encouraged to bring a dessert (cookies, sweet breads, un-iced cakes, etc.) to share, in a disposable container. Those items should be dropped off in the Fellowship Hall prior to the worship service. There will be special dietary offerings for those requiring gluten-free, sugar-free, nut-free and vegetarian options. This table will be near the Christmas tree and marked with balloons. Contributions for the purchase of food are welcome and appreciated. These may be sent to the church office or placed in the offering plate (designated for Agape). As this event hosts the entire congregation, we welcome your participation in decorating, food preparation, serving and clean-up. Most tasks will just require a couple of hours of your time on Dec.14, 15 or 16. If you can help, please e-mail Debbie Pruitt at debbiepruitt@icloud.com or call/text to 336-782-3198. ~Debbie Pruitt, Agape Team Chair CALENDAR The full church calendar is online at www.knollwood.org.
