Encourage your officers to attend. Sisters in Christ, Anne Goodson Northwest District Leadership Training and Officer Update Saturday, January 26, 9:30 am Elizabeth Lee UMC, 139 Cove Road, Chickamauga, GA Join all the new or returning local unit officers in the District as we meet together to get the latest on what s happening in the district. Equip yourself in your position as you guide your local women in 2013. Registration begins at 9:00 am with refreshments/light breakfast. The officer update and training session start at 9:30 am. There will be books/resources available for purchase. No lunch provided. Directions From I-75 North or South-take Exit 50 for GA-2/Battlefield Pkwy toward Ft. Oglethorpe. Turn left onto Battlefield Pkwy stay for 6.9 miles. Take the ramp to US-27 South/Lafayette/Chickamauga (far right lane). You will merge onto GA1 South/US-27 and continue for 4.3 miles. Turn right at light onto Wilder Rd and go 1 mile. Turn left at next light onto Lee Ave. Turn left on Cove Road at next light downtown Chickamauga. Church will be on right 328 feet. 1

A Reminder from the Historian The position of historian of your unit is to collect and organize the happenings of your unit each year. We need each unit to fill out the following form and return it to Bernice Howard, 57 Crest Dr., Rock Spring, GA 30739 as soon as possible. From our Treasurer I am planning on seeing every local Treasurer at the upcoming Leadership Training/Officer Update on January 26! It is so imperative for you to be there or send someone in your place to receive the vital information/forms I have for your Unit. Northwest District Lenten Day Apart March 17, 2013 Dawnville United Methodist Church 2:30 PM North Georgia Conference United Methodist Women Social Action Event March 2, 2013, Saturday The purpose is to enhance the knowledge and social action activity of the UMW to effectively integrate social action activities in their local units and beyond. The event is held at least biennially in odd years, and will be held March 2 at Trinity UMC (ACPK). The registration starts at 9:00 AM with the plenary at 9:30 AM. Northwest District Spiritual Growth Retreat Ruby Ford was born in Gainesville, Florida, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Florida in 1988, and her Master of Divinity from Duke University in 1998. As an educator, Ruby utilizes her teaching skills to enrich her spiritual applications. Prayer is Ruby s passion. She believes that a strong prayer life is crucial to a renewing and intense relationship with God. Ruby is a widow and resides in Cartersville, Georgia and she has been a United Methodist since 1974. Ruby is currently the pastor of Kaigler s United Methodist Church, in Adairsville, Ga. Throughout her time as a UMC member she has held various positions within the church as program chair, youth leader, worship leader, and Bible Study leader, and vacation Bible School instructor. She was the United Methodist Women Spiritual Advisor at Andrews Chapel UMC in Jonesboro, Georgia from 2003-2006. Ruby has also served as Parliamentarian for the Northwest District United Methodist Women. 5

Hey Ladies What time is it? It s Hinton Time.. All ladies in the Northwest District are invited to have a wonderful time at the Northwest District Annual Spiritual Growth Retreat. This is a time for everyone to relax and also a time for spiritual renewal guided by Reverend Ruby Ford in a beautiful setting. Mark your calendar for March 2-3, 2013. The price is $70.00. Registration will begin on Saturday, March 2 at 1:00 PM. The first session will begin at 2:00 PM. We will depart our 2013 retreat with many memories on Sunday, March 3 at 1:00 PM. In addition to the wonderful messages we will have many opportunities for fun and fellowship. Please remember to bring your Bible, paper and pen. Also, snacks and a 2-liter drink to share Saturday night, comfortable clothes and shoes. Directions to Hinton: From Chattanooga follow I-75 to the Hwy 64 Bypass just south of Cleveland, TN. Follow 64 Bypass around Cleveland and take 64 East as it exits toward Ococee and Copperhill (you ll go through the Ocoee River Gorge), continue on 64E to Murphy, NC. Turn right at second stop light in Murphy just across bridge and follow 64E toward Hayesville. Go about 14 miles to the first traffic light in Hayesville (do not turn at Hayesville Business sign). Go straight at the stoplight until you cross bridge. At the third street on the right pass the bridge, turn right onto Hinton Center Road, watch for large white Goldhagen Art Glass sign on right. Go straight through the stop sign (Oak Forest UMC on right); road ends in Hinton s parking lot. From Gilmer County area: Travel on US-76 E (GA-2E, GA-5N, GA 515N, Southern Highroads Scenic HWY) Continue onto US-76E (GA-2E, GA-515 N), turn sharply left at light onto GA-17. Continue onto NC-69 for 3.5 miles and bear right onto US-64 (HWY 64 E) for 1.3 miles. Turn right onto Hinton Center Rd and travel 2 miles follow signs to Rural Life Center. Directions to Dawnville UMC: 1409 Dawnville Rd, NE From Chattanooga follow I-75 south, take exit 336 US-41/US-76 Dalton/Rocky Face. Keep right at the fork on the exit ramp. Stay on the Bypass for 6.1 miles. Turn left at light onto GA-52 E/US-76 E/Chatsworth Rd, SE for 1.4 miles. Turn left at the light on top of the hill onto GA-286 E/Lower Dawnville Rd, NE and continue on for 3.2 miles. Brick church will be on your left.
