About CIBAFI General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI) is a non-profit institution that constitutes the official umbrella for Islamic financial institutions in the world. It was founded by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and a number of leading Islamic financial institutions. It is considered as one of the International Islamic Infrastructure Institutions. It was established on 16th May 2001 in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Today, CIBAFI with over 125 members from more than 33 jurisdictions, is recognized as a key piece in the international architecture of the Islamic finance industry. The objective of the conference is to reinforce both CIBAFI and World Bank commitment to help foster the development of Islamic finance globally including in the developing markets in the area of Corporate Governance. The conference brings together various Corporate Governance stakeholders from the Islamic finance industry, multilateral institutions, international and national regulatory bodies, policy-makers, and academia to discuss emerging issues and discuss best practices to ensure industry s continued success. The delegates of the conference would have an exceptional opportunity to gain key insights into the most significant areas of corporate governance including discussions on imminent challenges and opportunities.
