The vision November 13, 2018 Annual Thanksgiving Offering We have been in the 2018 Season of Giving Thanks emphasis for three weeks and we have one week remaining. If you are planning to give an Offering of Thanksgiving to the Lord, you will want to give it this coming Sunday, November 18. Each year I am overwhelmed by your heartfelt gratitude to our Lord. Love for Him and gratitude to Him should always be the hallmarks of our devotion to Him. When this is true it is evidenced by our service to Him. Please know of my sincerest appreciation to all of you for your gifts. The Elders will announce the offering total after the emphasis ends on November 18. Proposed Multi-purpose Building/Family Life Center This coming Sunday morning, November 18 at the 10:30 a.m. Worship service, Morningside church members will be given the opportunity to vote on whether to move forward with the proposed multi-purpose building. The Elders will have ballots prepared by which church members will vote. Ballots will NOT have to be signed but the Elders do respectively request that only church members vote. This proposed building, if affirmed by the congregation, is designed to be used for youth and college teaching classrooms, sports events, Easter musical productions, and for temporary times of worship so that our current worship center can be prepared for events such as an annual Wild Game Banquet as we have had in the past. We will be blessed to have Dr. J. Robert White, the CEO of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board (formerly Georgia Baptist Convention), preaching on Sunday morning and evening, December 2. Dr. White will preach the gospel on Sunday morning which gives us an excellent opportunity to invite our unsaved friends, neighbors and work associates. He will speak to us on Sunday evening about the Lottie Moon Christmas offering for International Missions. I look forward to his coming and invite you to join me in praying for him as he plans to preach. This is the final Vision that you will receive prior to Thanksgiving Day. I hope you and your family have a very safe and blessed Thanksgiving. May I suggest we all spend time with our families sharing how wonderful the Lord has been to all of us. Brother Wayne
We Love Valdosta Day Praise God for a WONDERFUL day Saturday! The Lord blessed us with beautiful weather, abundant workers, and a tremendous response from our community. Preliminary registration numbers reveal that about 650 non-morningside members attended, with 80 or more who indicated they do not have a church home! That is outstanding, and probably our largest attendance ever. John Yates I want to thank those who planned, directed, and worked at We Love Valdosta Day, and all of those who came out to meet and greet our guests. Please pray for God s blessings as we begin to make follow-up contacts with those who do not have a church home. Thanksgiving Week Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays, is next week. There will be some schedule changes at church because of the Thanksgiving holiday. Please note the following: Tuesday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. Mid-week Worship, Chancel Choir, Youth, Children and Nursery There will be no 6:00 p.m. activities. Wednesday, November 21 No activities Thursday and Friday, November 22-23 Church office closed The Good Shepherd Most of us can quote at least part of the 23 rd Psalm. The Psalm begins with these familiar words, The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. A thousand years after David, the shepherd-king, wrote those words, Jesus Christ came on the scene and announced, I am the good shepherd. Do you know very much about how a shepherd cares for his sheep? Come to Sunday School this Sunday morning at 8:45 a.m. to learn more about the Good Shepherd. We are entering what many call the busiest time of the year but if you will just pause and reflect, we all have so much to be thankful for. The Youth are wearing pause bands to help remind them that no matter what their circumstances are they are blessed beyond measure. Will you take the pause challenge?? When things are busy, hectic and you have so much to do or even when you are lonely and blue, pause and thank God for His love and His blessings. Packing blessings for children around the world is what the Youth will do this Sunday during their After Glow. If you don t have time to shop for or pack a shoebox the Youth will do it for you. Simply make your donation and mark it for the shoebox ministry and we will take care of the rest. It s a joyous time of year if you will simply pause reflect, pray, serve, and be grateful for all of God s blessings.
