Confession Of Our Need Of Christ And God s Grace Corporate Confession of Sin Most merciful Father, we acknowledge and confess that we are prone to evil and lazy in doing good. All our shortcomings and offenses are against you. You alone know how often we have sinned by wandering from your ways, in wasting your gifts and in forgetting your love. O Lord, have pity upon us. Teach us to hate our sins. Cleanse us from our secret faults. Forgive all our sins on account of your dear Son, our Savior. Send your purifying grace into our hearts, that we may live in your light and walk according to the commandments of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. The Assurance of Pardoning Grace Psalm 130: 4-5, 7-8 If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared. O Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins. Response Of Thanksgiving Offertory Prayer Elder Steve McNair Receiving Tithes/Offerings *Doxology No. 731 Choral Anthem "Jesus, Your Name" arr. Getty/Hannah/Larson ~Choir Anthem~ Jesus, Your name, Prince of Peace, quiets my soul, treasures the least. In perfect rest You will keep all whose hope is in You. Jesus, Your name can silence the storms, the strivings that trouble our world. Jesus, Your name reveals You as Lord; Oh, powerful name! Jesus, Your name, Counselor, Wonderful Way, Life s Comforter, Spirit of Truth, defending me, though in me was the blame. Jesus, Your name has stood in my place and freed me from hopeless shame. Jesus, Your name now fathers me. With joy I bear His name. There is a name I love to hear, I love to sing its worth; It sounds like music in my ear, the sweetest name on earth. Jesus, Your name, Mighty God, all powerful one ruling in love. There is a King upon the throne earth cannot overthrow. Jesus, Your name, great banner of hope, it steadies the knees of the weak. Jesus, the name all nations will praise; Oh, glorious name. Oh, what a glorious name.
The Means Of Grace Old Testament Scripture Reading 1 Samuel 12:19-25 Page 234 New Testament Scripture Reading 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 Page 959 Psalm Singing Psalm 21B Because the King Trusts in the Lord See Next Page The king praises the LORD for the abundant blessings obtained through an important victory the LORD has given, and the people express their assurance that he will triumph over all his foes. There is no difficulty in seeing the application to Christ who triumphed over the forces of hell in his cross, gained life for himself and his people and who will at the last say to those who did not want him to be king over them: Bring them here and kill them in from of me. Michael Cannon Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth! I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old, things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might and the wonders that he has done.
