Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you,

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price;

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God s

1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do ALL to the glory of God.

Question: What 2 ways are we to glorify God in our bodies? 1. What we put into our bodies 1. What we put onto our bodies

1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do ALL to the glory of God.

So what was God s plan for us? Genesis 1:27 in the image of God He created them

So what was God s plan for us? Genesis 1:27 in the image of God He created them

What does God s image look like?

Societal Mindset: -I just want to make a statement -I want to be beautiful -I want to be recognized -I want to express myself

Who was the first person to have these thoughts? Isaiah 14:13-14 I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God

Isaiah 14:13-14 I will sit on the mount of the congregation I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.

Lucifer s purpose was selfish He wanted recognition that didn t belong to him His motive was ulterior

Lucifer s outward appearance significantly contributed to his downfall (Ezekiel 28:13)

What counsel do we have concerning outward appearance? 1 Peter 3:3-4 (ESV) Do not let your adorning be external-

1 Peter 3:3-4 (ESV) the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the

1 Peter 3:3-4 (ESV) imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God s sight is very precious.

Let s Consider Where does God want our beauty to come from? A Converted Heart How should Christians establish their identity? Read 2 Corinthians 5:17

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things become new.

So what s the big deal?

God has asked us to put Him first Is there anything too great to let go of for Him? How did God describe ornaments and Jewelry?

Revelation 17:4 (The False Church) The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls

Hosea 2:13 (God describes Israel s idolatry) I will punish her for the days of the Baals to which she burned incense. She decked her self with earrings and jewelry, and went after her lovers

God uses these examples to describe: 1. Idolatrous behavior 2. False Worship 3. His people turning away from Him 4. Outward sign of inward rebellion

Jesus says about our identity: Matthew 7:17, 20 Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Are you hiding behind a false identity?

Or have you hidden your identity in Christ?

Titus 2:14 [Jesus Christ] who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

Titus 2:14 [Jesus Christ] who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

The people of God are nearing the borders of the eternal world; what can be of more importance to them than that they be loyal the God of Heaven? Christian Service, pg. 236.6

I exhort you to wear no pearls, no gold, nor precious stones I do not advise women to wear rings, earrings, or necklaces It is true, these are little, very little things; therefore, they are not worth defending give them up, let them drop, throw them away

else a little needle may cause much pain in the flesh, a little self-indulgence much hurt to your soul. John Wesley, Founder of Methodist Church

Joshua 24:15 choose you this day whom you will serve but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
