A LETTER FROM FATHER LEN This weekend we put closure to our summer season. After Monday's "last hurrah" of a holiday, we prepare for a new season of Faith Formation, conduct the first meetings for the fall, and return to a full staff at the office. But even though the vacation season is over, it doesn't mean that we have to lose the benefits of our time away. It is important that we give ourselves permission to take time each day for quiet, reflection and rejuvenation. If not, then we are no better than the mice running inside that maze, getting nowhere fast. Use wisely the gifts of summer to make your fall fruitful. Who knows, we might be able to squeeze out a few beautiful weekends before the official beginning of autumn. SPONSOR OF THE WEEK WILLIAM J CALDWELL, ESQ. CARTER, VAN RENSSELAER & CALDWELL, P.C. ADULT FAITH FORMATION, FABLES & FAITH: UNDERSTANDING THE GOSPEL WITH AESOP S FABLES TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 AT 10:00 A.M. IN OLD CHURCH HALL Fables delight us and teach us the most important lessons about our lives. As this program shows, they also illuminate the message of the Gospel. You will join one of the leading experts on fables on a 12-part program that uses the fables of Aesop and others to help you deepen and enjoy your Christian spiritual life. As you explore the fables, you will discover novel and engaging methods of understanding humility. You will look at the ways in which the Christian life is magnified by Aesop s fables, but you will also see how the Gospel expounds on virtues that are sometimes absent in fables. If you are looking to deepen your spiritual life while enjoying delightful stories, you will love this engaging program. FROM THE DESK OF CAPTAINS JANGIE JANKIEWICZ AND VICTORIA SPARROW: Noah's Ark will set sail on our first voyage on Sunday, September 14 during the 11:00 A.M. Mass. This program is suited for children ages 3-6 and parents & grandparents are invited to join us on our first voyage. Please meet us in Classroom 10 beginning at 10:45 A.M. We will return to the sanctuary during the collection and join you in the Noah's Ark reserved pews. During our time together your children will hear God's stories, mixed in with music, group projects, or skits! Noah s Ark will be sailing every Sunday, and we hope your children and grandchildren will be able to join us. Also, we are calling Captains and First Mates to help us. No prior experience is necessary just the love of telling God's stories. If you are willing, each week's story has been fully planned with minimal preparation on your part. Send an email to noahsark@ollwhs.org with questions or to join the crew! PAGE 4
