Order of Worship Prelude Welcome and greetings Come, You Thankful People, Come Robert Hobby Len Teague, pastor of children and youth Introit Praise and Honor and Wisdom and Thanks Chancel Choir Praise and honor and wisdom and thanks be unto our God forevermore. Amen. text from Revelation 7:12; music by Georg Gottfried Wagner, attr. J.S. Bach * Call to worship based on Psalm 34 and Psalm 146 Leader: We will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on our lips. All: Our souls will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. Leader: I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. All: Taste and see that the Lord is good! We will praise the Lord all our lives; we will sing praise to our God as long as we live. * Hymn of praise 363 We Gather Together * Prayer of adoration * Affirmation of faith The Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Sacrament of baptism (11:00) Fiona and Patrick Johnson bringing Ellen Frances Johnson Call to confession taken from Hebrews 10:19-22 Since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Silent prayers of confession Assurance of God s pardoning grace based on 1 John 3 and Ephesians 2 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! For it is by grace we have been saved, through faith and this not from ourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast. * Hymn of assurance 261 What Wondrous Love Is This Worship in the giving of God s tithe and our offerings Offertory Come, Ye Thankful People, Come Chancel Choir Come, ye thankful people, come, raise the song of harvest home; all is safely gathered in, ere, the winter storms begin; God, the Maker, does provide for our wants to be supplied; come to God s own temple, come, raise the song of harvest home. All the blessings of the field, all the stores the gardens yield, all the fruits in full supply, ripened neath the summer sky, all the spring with bounteous hand scatters o er the smiling land, all that lib ral autumn pours from its rich o erflowing stores. These to thee, our God, we owe, source from whence all blessings flow, and for these our souls shall raise, our souls shall raise grateful vows and solemn praise. continued

Mark 14:22-26 22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take it; this is my body. 23 Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, and they all drank from it. 24 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many, he said to them. 25 I tell you the truth, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it anew in the kingdom of God. 26 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. SERMON NOTES The Last Supper Mark 14:22-26 1. A familiar context: the night before a great deliverance (v. 17) 2. The final Lamb: sacrifice of his body and blood (vv. 22-24) 3. A foretaste of a better meal to come: the wedding feast of the Lamb (vv. 25-26) BIG IDEA: In Jesus Kingdom, the menu is the sacrificial grace of Christ. We should eat heartily!
