(Gen.2:18) And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. When God created Eve He was not just giving Adam someone he could talk to so he wouldn t be lonely, He made a soul-mate for Adam, He instituted marriage and established the foundation by which the human family would be built. In this unit was Adam made complete, not only as a man subject to his Creator but as a husband and then as a father, leading his family in the ways of God. (Gen.2:24) Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. (Gen.1:28) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth The dignity of man is to be preserved in this family unit as each member fulfills his or her role. (I Cor.11:3) But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man (Eph.5:22) Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. (Eph.5:25) Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it (Eph.6:1-2) Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honor thy father and mother (Eph.6:4) And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. (Titus 2:4-5) That (the aged women) may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. God brought his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ into this world to grow into a perfect obedient man by placing him into such a family unit. Oh, how Joseph loved his wife and Mary her husband. Oh, how they cherished their sweet baby and how that sweet boy loved his mom and dad. (Luke 2:51-52) And (Jesus) went down with (Joseph and Mary), and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. He thrived in what God had designed and we can do the same. It is paramount that we establish, strengthen and protect the family unit as God intended so that each man, woman, boy and girl in the body of Christ will increase in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. The Christian family is the foundation for human development in which the dignity of each member is established in: self value, worth in God, a moral code and his own immortality. One may get married and have children and by definition have a family but our goal is to have Christian families, designed by God and functioning to His glory. To do this we must be trained, counseled, and reminded how to implement the ways of God among ourselves. May God help us in this vital endeavor.
