Youth Ministry News An invitation for all adults and teens in 9-12 grade: The Appalachia Work Camp is starting to plan for our trip which will take place in July, 2019. If you have ever thought about being a part of this mission trip, we are having a Registration Meeting on October 7, at 6:00pm at Saint Joan of Arc. The AWC started in 1982 by Father Dan Sweeney with 5 adults and 15 teens. We now consist of approximately 6 churches and 130 participants, which 75-80 are high school teens. Our sole purpose is to live out the beatitudes of Jesus in a very real way. Service experiences are transformational for not on the ones we serve, but also for the participants. It will make you realize first-hand that it is better to give than receive. If you would like more information before the meeting, please call Audrey Wurst at 412-833-2400 or Laura Stein at 412-506-1940. The Appalachia Work Camp is in need of items for our Chinese Auction baskets. If you have anything new that you know you will not be using, we can put it to use! We will accept jewelry, kitchen or decorative items, bath and body etc. Items can be dropped off in the church office and someone will pick them up. Thank you in advance for your support! Through his creating us in his image and likeness and consecrating us with his Spirit in baptism, God the Father adopts us as his beloved children and unites us with each other through his Son, Jesus. If Christ Jesus considers us his sisters and brothers and is willing to sacrifice for us, then we, who strive to love with the heart of Jesus, should do the same. As the new parish groupings take effect and the interim Mass schedules begin as part of the On Mission for The Church Alive! initiative on October 15 th, we will likely encounter new sisters and brothers in Christ. May the love of God at work in us be extended to them in our words and deeds, and may we receive the love of God from them as we seek each day to build up his kingdom.
